Historia
The great fourth-century church father Basil of Caesarea once observed that, in his time, most Christians believed that hell was not everlasting, and that all would eventually attain salvation. But today, this view is no longer prevalent within Christian communities. In this momentous book, David Bentley Hart makes the case that nearly two millennia of dogmatic tradition have misled readers on the crucial matter of universal salvation.

Logically and scripturally convincing.
Revisado: 11-09-24
I didn't think I needed this book as much as I did. The concept of universal reconciliation is quite new to me as a lifelong church goer but the author's arguments are as convincing as they are beautiful. God and his plan of salvation is so much greater to me after this reading.

Historia
David was the “man after God’s own heart,” yet his life was characterized by hardship. During his lifetime, he was fired, became homeless, grieved the loss of three children, built a nation, lost almost everything after his affair with Bathsheba, and then saw a work that was dear to him given to another.

Very Encouraging For Anyone in a Valley
Revisado: 06-11-23
I found this to be a very practical and timely read as our family recently suffered the loss of many close family members. The author provides great commentary on the prayers of David while focusing primarily on Psalm 23. He speaks from some of his personal experiences of "walking through the valley of the shadow of death" as well which makes this book even more relatable. I enjoyed the narration which was rich and just engaging enough without being distracting. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling in their own valley. It is also a great read for people riding high that realize valleys will certainly come in the future that their hearts need to be prepared for.

Historia
Hiraeth is a Welsh word for which there is no English equivalent. Hiraeth is a feeling of homesickness for a home to which you cannot return. Many Christians feel an acute sense of hiraeth because they have no tribe. They have no people. No place. No sense of belonging. The Tribal Instinct explains what exactly tribes are and why they have disappeared. More importantly, it explores the Biblical case for tribe and what Christians might do to recover what has been lost.

A Must-Read
Revisado: 05-30-23
The case is made very convincingly that what is missing for so many of us is a tribe. I will be sharing this book and it's ideas with as many people as I can. I only hope there is a follow-up at some point that will explore the different aspects and challenges of building or joining one.

Historia
When Dr. Sydney Prout is named the head of the UN mission to Elephant Island, he believes he is more than ready to meet the challenge of guiding its primitive inhabitants into the post-Colonial era and eventually full independence. But neither his many academic credentials nor the Journal of Race Relations have prepared Dr. Prout to reckon with the unrepentant bloody-mindedness of the natives or anticipate the inventive ways their tribal philosophers will incorporate the most unlikely aspects of modern civilization into their religious lore and traditional way of life.

Had a lot of fun listening to this one. Wasn't expecting something with a title like this to be as funny as it was. Great story and characters. Fletcher for President!

It's all connected...
Revisado: 10-26-15
Mike gives great practical advice on how to get into and maintain a winning (or gorilla) mindset. I was a little surprised at how much he emphasizes physical changes in behavior but he makes convincing arguments as to why they are necessary. One of the biggest takeaways for me was this improved understanding of the body mind connection. In order to get the most out of this book you'll likely need to make some changes to your diet, workout routine, and more closely monitor your thought patterns.
