Historia
Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Rob Lowe's life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Open, Honest, Sentimental... not quite as Intimate
- De Kelly en 01-07-16
entertaining, but not as good as his first one
Revisado: 07-27-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I preferred his first one, which was more Hollywood-anecdote laden
Who was your favorite character and why?
well they're not really "characters"...
What about Rob Lowe’s performance did you like?
nothing.. he's a really good reader of his own writing
Any additional comments?
there was more than I really care about his family and philosophies of childrearing.

Historia
Against the immense backdrop of the American West, Larry McMurtry tracks the Berrybender's as they make their way up the great river, surviving attacks, discomfort, savage weather, and natural disaster. Sin Killer is an adventure story as big as the West itself, full of incident, and suspense, as well as a charming love story between a headstrong and aristocratic young Englishwoman and the stubborn, shy, and very American Jim Snow.

such a disappointment
Revisado: 07-27-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Big McMurtry fans I suppose
Has Sin Killer turned you off from other books in this genre?
no, but won't listen to others in the series.
How could the performance have been better?
I've loved Molina reading The Iliad and Treasure Island... this was flat and uninteresting. Hugely disappointing
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
not to me.. I stopped listening after about 1 hour
Any additional comments?
Did not enjoy any of the characters, or the storyline.

Fantastic performance
Revisado: 05-30-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely would recommend. A classic story, brilliantly read.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This is not a book where a character is a "favorite". That's not a bad thing
What does Kenneth Branagh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I'm not usually a fan of Branagh, but his performance here is incredible. As someone else wrote, he tells this as if it's a ghost story. Completely compelling.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Just overall extreme pleasure in the telling
Any additional comments?
It's not a story that fills in every detail.... in some ways you want more.

Historia
Robert Louis Stevenson's cherished, unforgettable adventure magically captures the thrill of a sea voyage and a treasure hunt through the eyes of its teenage protagonist, Jim Hawkins. Crossing the Atlantic in search of the buried cache, Jim and the ship's crew must brave the elements and a mutinous charge led by the quintessentially ruthless pirate Long John Silver. Brilliantly conceived and splendidly executed, it is a novel that has seized the imagination of generations of adults and children alike.

release your inner 13 year old!
Revisado: 02-17-14
Would you listen to Treasure Island again? Why?
loved it, but once is probably enough
What did you like best about this story?
A classic pirate tale, really fun.
Have you listened to any of Alfred Molina’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
His reading of THE ILIAD is awesome. This matches it. Fantastic voice characterizations though sometimes the accents are a little thick. I wish he read more books. He's one of the best for "acting" the book, not just reading it.
Any additional comments?
of course it's not sophisticated, so don't expect Jane Austin. It's perfect, of its type.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

disappointing
Revisado: 01-30-14
What disappointed you about Sycamore Row?
Ridiculous plot gaps and inconsistencies; "surprise" denouement that is completely predictable; racist and sexist depictions of the black and female characters. Unpleasant protagonists. Incredibly boring trial scenes.
Would you ever listen to anything by John Grisham again?
maybe
What aspect of Michael Beck’s performance would you have changed?
voices of black characters bordered on racist caricature

Historia
The power and the beauty of The Iliad resound again across 2,700 years in Stephen Mitchell's exciting new translation, as if the lifeblood of its heroes Achilles and Patroclus, Hector and Priam flowed in every word. And we are there with them amid the horror and ecstasy of war, carried along by a poetry that lifts even the most devastating human events into the realm of the beautiful.

Revisado: 01-01-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Molina's reading of this classic is just spell binding. I could listen to the way he pronounces the Greek names endlessly!
What did you like best about this story?
gods vs man, man vs man, gods vs gods. Timeless
Which character – as performed by Alfred Molina – was your favorite?
really all of them
Any additional comments?
skip the incredibly long, pedantic chapters by the translator....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes.. great story, great performance. Classic
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
not so much since I had seen the Hitchock classic movie (which is also great)
Have you listened to any of Anna Massey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
It takes her a few chapters to move from a plain reading to a fullout performance, but once she does, she's awesome. It really turns into a riproaring performance

Historia
Mom loved adages, quotes, slogans. There were always little reminders pasted on the kitchen wall. For example, the word THINK. I found THINK thumbtacked on a bulletin board in her darkroom. I saw it Scotch-taped on a pencil box she’d collaged. I even found a pamphlet titled THINK on her bedside table. Mom liked to THINK.

a surprising family story
Revisado: 04-17-12
Would you listen to Then Again again? Why?
I rarely listen to autobiographies more than once, so it's no knock on this title that I wouldnt listen to it again
What was one of the most memorable moments of Then Again?
The portrayal of Keaton's mother and her struggle with dementia was surprising and moving. It's really a story of family relationships.
Which character – as performed by Diane Keaton – was your favorite?
Her mother
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Keaton's openness about her bulimia
Any additional comments?
I could have done without the Keaton giggles but otherwise an outstanding performance
