Really sweet and entertaining historical fiction!
Revisado: 06-14-23
I really enjoyed the way the lives of the characters were woven into the historical fabric of the story. The facts of the events were accurate, and I could easily reflect on the social drama that was also in progress as America grew up. Fabulous and well written book. Christina Moore nailed Rosa’s accent and personality perfectly.

Worst narrator ever!
Revisado: 10-18-21
The story may have been good, but it was hard to tell. With this narrator, the plot sounded sophomoric and and the conversations fake and stilted. With poor sound management, I could hear cars and other traffic noise in the back ground. I will try another book by this author- hopefully someone has engaged a professional reader for future endeavors.

Historia
When Kevin West resigned from his job as vice president of a bank in 1998 after making fraudulent loans, he spent the time before his trial managing a family-owned, small grocery store in Ironton, Ohio. Dealing with serious marriage problems and with a prison sentence almost certainly in his future, Kevin was overcome with remorse and without a scrap of hope. It was at his lowest moment that Kevin called out to a power beyond himself for help, and God answered his prayer in the form of an elderly vagrant named Don.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

A book that holds one's attention!
Revisado: 02-09-13
If you could sum up The Hiding Place in three words, what would they be?
Heartwarming, educational and thrilling!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hiding Place?
One of the most memorable moments for me is the way that Corrie was let out of the concentration camp BY "ACCIDENT!" the time when the home of the Ten Booms was invaded and the family was taken away, while the Jewish "guests" were not found, was also exciting.
Have you listened to any of Wanda McCaddon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have not listened to other books read by Wanda McCaddon, but she does a great job. I could feel Corrie's feelings in the way she read the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried many times during the book- when Corrie's mother passes away, Times when Casper would teach a life concept to Corrie, and when Betsy dies. There were also many fun and happy times that made me laugh.
Any additional comments?
A nice book to listen to on a rainy day when feeling sorry for ones self.

One of my childhood favorites brought to life
Revisado: 02-01-13
What did you love best about The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew?
This is one of the books my mother read to me many times before I was able to read and re-read it myself. I was reminded of how faithfully the little Pepper family "toughed-out" their meager little lives together.
What did you like best about this story?
The positive attitude of the family members and the loyalty to each other
Which scene was your favorite?
When little Phronsie followed the organ grinder out of town and was saved by the big dog and the boy that came to be such a special friend.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Obviously depicting times after the American Civil War, judging by the date of first printing, I enjoyed the demonstration of commradarie in the little town, and the way everyone stuck together to help and support the least fortunate.
Any additional comments?
Short but enjoyable listen. Brought back many pleasant memories of childhood enchantment with the characters.
