Liked Grisham stories better than McCloskey ones, which had too many characters & scenarios to keep track of.

Revisado: 09-04-24
Amazing story of women switchboard operators who served the military. In the front lines during WW I. Narrated very well-easy to hear & understand.
Well researched by the author and this book read like a story not a documentary, as some I’ve read by this author.

Wonderful story of interracial friendship
Revisado: 10-10-23
An amazing story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary, McLeod, Bethune and their accomplishments during the Roosevelt administration and advancing interracial accomplishments, and the advancement of black positions in the military and the government. It’s a great read!

Shocking and Emotional
Revisado: 09-03-23
The beginning of this book is slow to start and I had trouble getting interested in the story. I found it difficult to follow back-and-forth between time periods and figure out who was talking, as an audible book doesn’t list the title of the chapter and possibly the persons name was in the title of the chapters of the hard copy of the book.
Once I got the characters straight, I couldn’t turn the book off. It was an unbelievable look into the Nazis and Eugenics and how families scrambled to protect their children. I was also unaware of the place Eugenics has taken in California throughout her history.
The characterers are so believable. I was very angry with Brigetta’s father who seemed to feel no guilt for what he did.
I appreciated the lady who smuggled the children to Switzerland & later adopted Amyrilas.
Really liked the book and a topic I’ve never read a novel about, ever! So much research done for this book!

Historia
Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So, when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically. The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything.

Incredible Storytelling of Kentucky Hillbilly Injustice
Revisado: 01-23-20
This is one of my favorite books of all time! It reached deep into my soul with author’s portrayal of Kentucky hillbilly living and constant injustice to the poor, the amazing difference a book makes in their lives as it opens them up to the world, the strength and courage of those who started and ran the mobile library , and the comradely displayed in the face of pure evil.
I suggest this book for book lovers, library lovers and book clubs and to those who enjoy historical fiction.
Amazing read for me. I enjoyed it on audible as could hear the accents and the emotional intensity of their circumstances

Misunderstandings and Things Not Done
Revisado: 08-27-19
This is the first audible book for me. I've read audio CD books and enjoyed them too.
I won this book in an author contest and will give an unsolicited review.
I enjoyed that there were two stories which were both very different but blended well. I enjoyed the romance and couldn't
wait for the obstacles to disappear and let the lovers get together. Finally!
The other was an adoption story, which interests me as we have an adopted son, who at age 39 has met some of his birth family on 23 & Me.
I will look forward to reading this author again!
