I was curious what the difference between this course and the other one for guitar might be. All exercises are played on piano instead of guitar. Besides, this course uses a different method. I'm glad it's been making a great addition to the ear training course for guitar!

I like that all intervals are played up, down, and simultaneously. This way, I could get an even better feeling for each interval. The two additional exercises, next to interval recognition, have clear instructions. Every listener should know what to do here.

Every chord is well introduced. You will know what to listen for. Two additional exercises round off the chords section. I especially like the musical examples! The sound is great!

Conclusion

Great method, good piano sound, plenty of exercises. If you really want to become a better musician, you can't go wrong with this course. No matter what instrument you play, check out Ear Training Course for Guitar: Scales. Perfect complement if you ask me!

Kate's book is the most practical help I got from all books I've read on this topic. The narrator's style is clear and friendly, absolutely encouraging, with a warm tone. It suits the author's style and the topic perfectly! It's been like listening to my best friend.

The practical suggestions and clever ideas will inspire many listeners to give minimalism a sincere try. The thoughtful guidance provided by this book won't let you don't along the way.

If you want to focus on what you love and spend more quality time with your partner and your kids, I can only recommend Fewer Toys, More Time. Families will find guidance in this book, bringing you closer to a calmer, more meaningful life.

I got myself this book, too, as I liked the others of this series. The book focuses on identifying all commonly used scales/modes. You should first have basic music theory and probably already have some basic ear training--enough to hear the difference between major and minor. A semester of music theory, for example, should be plenty.

Again, there are well-chosen scale comparisons in the book, e.g., major versus mixolydian versus lydian, aeolian versus dorian, or phrygian versus locrian. Plus, this time, all scales are not only played up and down. There are also short musical ideas played using each scale. I like that. Very practical!

I already knew from my music studies, but it certainly is helpful for others: Each scale is briefly introduced by the narrator. So you will know what exactly the difference between the scales is.

The final chapter mixes all scales up using both the pure scales and short melodies!

Conclusion

'Scales' is a well-done follow-up to 'Intervals' and 'Chords'. The three together have been a good refresher for my ears. I didn't use my credit this time. Well worth it!

All Correct In Here

I studied music a few years ago and got myself this ear training course (and others) as a refresher. Plus, it keeps my ears fit, I thought.

First off, everything is correct in this book. I double-checked a few examples where I wasn't 100% sure myself, but I can't find anything wrong.

I like the concept! It might not be for everyone, but what is? There is not much explanation. I appreciate that. It's not a music theory book, after all. You get plenty of exercises to train your ears. Perfect while you're driving and can't really do anything else. The last mix of all intervals is my favorite, but the other chapters focusing on just a few intervals at a time are well put together.

The second book focuses on chords. You get the same mixes of two or four chords e.g., major versus minor or augmented versus diminished. The last chapter is a mix of all chords covered in this book. This is again my favorite.

Conclusion

I have good knowledge of music theory, and I simply wanted to have a collection of ear training exercises for my commutes. Exactly what I got here! I'm glad I used my monthly credit on this one, but I wouldn't hesitate to pay for it.
