Loved it
Revisado: 01-01-23
All the authors captured the voice of Miss Marple perfectly.
Agatha Christie would be proud.
Narrator was great too. There seemed to be a slight glitch in the editing where lines would be repeated. Still good though.

A read when you need family.
Revisado: 12-03-22
I was expecting The Work Wives to be a traditional contemporary romance, but at its heart, it is a story of women, family and friendships. Yes there is the search for love (or the avoidance of it) and some eligible male characters, but it is the relationships and cosy side stories of the women that make this story shine. It exposes our fears, flaws and the way we can care for each other in a special way. Reminded me of 'Looking for Alibrandi'.

Historia
Evie Berry is a 30-year-old wannabe screenwriter who spends her days managing a London cinema bar and making the podcast Pasta La Vista with her best friend, Ben. She's also obsessed with Hugo Hearst. Have you heard of him? Of course you have. He's only one of the most influential and not to mention swoon-worthy best-selling writers of his generation. When Evie's not hooking up with her on-again, off-again booty call 'Ever-Ready Freddy' (and sometimes even when she is), she fantasises about what might have been if she'd met Hugo years ago, when he was just a struggling writer.

The old ‘be careful what you wish for’. This romance is a fun love-seeking romp that takes us back to our early days of falling hard. Loved the girl-power references!

A clever YA thriller where past merges into present in a natural cause and consequence but still with twists and surprises.
Excellent character creation, each of the main group are quirky, emotional and flawed enough for us to care.

Breathtaking
Revisado: 01-21-22
I keep restarting this review because it’s so hard to capture the beauty of this narrative. I thought this would be a novel everyone loves and I find a bit meh. But it’s not. It addresses themes of societal outcasting, racism and loneliness- but it does it in the most adorable way possible. I would read it again and again.

Interconnected characters you can really feel
Revisado: 11-28-21
Did not disappoint. Every character is flawed, some seem irredeemable, but all carry honest hurt and a fragility that connects us. Kept changing my mind about who I thought the culprit was and who I thought deserved to be guilty.

Great characters

This story nails character. Love the voice of the protagonist changing from child to teen to adult reflecting back. There are no small characters in King's pages, each one is fully developed and rich and inviting.
