Too much focus on mechanics, light on story

Not up to expectations (potential spoilers!!!!!!)

I like the characters and the back story. There was way more "explaining mechanics" than the story and that was disappointing. There could have been much better things put in, like context for the end or back story for something else in addition to the current one. I could also get behind the entire book being a back story (if most of it wasn't mechanics) but the end was out of nowhere with maybe 5 minutes of context. It felt very "Ope, gotta put in a quota of action....better throw something in". I'm hoping the next book is better.

It was adorable, entertaining and kept me interested. The light fun made this a fresh breath of air from the super serious, dark drama that fantasy books tend to be.

delicious puns and realistic experiences

Even if science isn't your thing this book is still pretty great. The puns are worth a few good chuckles, the realistic experiences and the passion Kit writes shines through every word. A+

I don't know what the story is

The narrator use the same voice for everyone so it's difficult to determine which character she was being there was no enthusiasm no appropriate pauses no description of the actions taken which is clearly written in the book and italics The overall performance ruined to the story and made it impossible to listen to.
