Historia
Not Gay thrusts deep into a world where straight guy-on-guy action is not a myth but a reality: There's fraternity and military hazing rituals, where new recruits are made to grab each other's penises and stick fingers up their fellow members' anuses; online personal ads, where straight men seek other straight men to masturbate with; and, last but not least, the long and clandestine history of straight men frequenting public restrooms for sexual encounters with other men.

Insightful sociology
Revisado: 08-17-16
Surprising, insightful and entertaining. The author takes you on a journey though a subject that is unfortunately taboo. she dares to hit the head of the nail with the hammer and call out years of repression of sexual fluidity.

Historia
When the Buddha set in motion the wheel of Dharma, he knew that the teaching he gave was inexhaustible - that every future generation would find its own skillful ways to convey it to the hearts and minds of those ready to hear. The Buddha Is Still Teaching is testimony to the fulfillment of that promise today. The selections it contains, from today's most highly regarded contemporary Buddhist teachers, bring the Dharma eloquently to life for us in our own time, place, and culture.

Jumble of unrelated texts
Revisado: 08-04-16
The author here was clearly preying on the spiritually inclined. The entire book is a copy- paste of other people's life works. It's like having a reading list read to you. Most all of the copied texts are taken out of context changing their meaning.

Historia
For the many people who are interested in learning more about Buddhism, here is a primer on Buddhism and Buddhist practice written in a deceptively simple manner, with an engaging, gentle humor and flavor. Adrienne Howley's purpose is to demystify Buddhism, stripping away the layers of ritual and iconography that have grown up around it over the centuries, and to present the original, basic tenets and practices.

Great insight for the pedantic and the seeker
Revisado: 04-19-16
This book is a nice discourse of the trials and tribulations of an Australian Buddhist nun. Through her experiences and answers this book gives the motivation and insight to start or continue a practice. The author has a pragmatic view and tells the story from her heart.

Historia
An airliner’s controls abruptly fail mid-flight over the Atlantic. An oil tanker runs aground in Japan when its navigational system suddenly stops dead. Hospitals everywhere have to abandon their computer databases when patients die after being administered incorrect dosages of their medicine. In the Midwest, a nuclear power plant nearly becomes the next Chernobyl when its cooling systems malfunction. At first, these random computer failures seem like unrelated events.

interesting, accurate but a bit anticlimactic
Revisado: 04-15-16
I picked up this book because the author is someone I highly respect from the tech world. The points are accurate and the author spices things up a bit. This book needs to be read on Kindle or paper. The narrator reads long stretches of Assembly language code. this turns into 5 minute monologs of hexadecimal figures and computer language that was never designed to be read aloud.
The ending was also anticlimactic and didn't fit entirely with the beginning of the book.
I still recommend reading this book. just do it on Kindle or paper.

Historia
Cats have been popular household pets for thousands of years, and their numbers only continue to rise. Today there are three cats for every dog on the planet, and yet cats remain more mysterious, even to their most adoring owners. In Cat Sense, renowned anthrozoologist John Bradshaw takes us further into the mind of the domestic cat than ever before, using cutting-edge scientific research to explain the true nature - and needs - of our feline friends. Tracing the cat’s evolution from solitary hunter to domesticated companion, Bradshaw shows that cats remain independent, predatory, and wary of social contact.

Great book but lots of assumptions
Revisado: 01-04-16
It's a fun listen, and a lot of the science will surprise you. Not with its accuracy but with how poor the scientists designed the experiments. A great book for any cat lover. The voice actor is pleasant to listen to.
