This story stayed with me
Revisado: 01-16-21
What do you do to make the world a better place with only a few months to live? That question is answered in a very surprising and political way by author Martin Andrew. I absolutely admired the way Theresa and Josh stayed determined to make a difference with their lives while they coped with their illness. The narrator, Ward Paxton, brought them to life excellently and has some nice gravitas in his voice. I was moved by it.

Historia
Owning Game-Changing Subcategories outlines the path to finding, managing, and leveraging new subcategories. In the digital age, the path has been made wider, shorter, and more frequently traveled. Throughout, David Aaker discusses certain aspects of the digital age that alter this path, such as E-commerce providing fast, inexpensive market access bypassing the cost of gaining distribution into storefront retailers or creating personal sales teams and social media and websites enabling communication on steroids in comparison with traditional use of advertising or events.

Loved the insights
Revisado: 06-19-20
I loved listening to all the insights the author presents from the case studies of business strategies by entrepreneurs, large and small. I learned so much about the "innovation economy." The excellent narrator was a good match too. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Giant wolf-like creatures prowl silently in the dark woods - hungry and desperate. The townspeople see them as horrifying monsters that must be killed at any cost. But, to the wolves, humans are merely obstacles to their own survival, and obstacles must be destroyed - utterly destroyed.

Super wolves inhabit Kentucky
Revisado: 02-07-20
This is the second in the series and I liked it just as much as the first. The author's storytelling is fantastic, the characters were very real to me, and the giant wolves were really quite something. And there is some humor to lighten the mood. The narrator took me into the story and did a nice job separating the characters- young, old, male, female and with varying degrees of accents. So, I give it 5 stars.

Historia
Born in Italy and raised in Brooklyn, Vincenzo Capone left home when he was a teenager. He traveled with a Wild-West show and fought in Europe during the Great War where he earned a medal for sharp-shooting. Upon his return, he settled in Nebraska where he went by the name Richard Hart. He married, had children, and worked closely with the local Indian communities. He dressed like the type of cowboy he had seen in silent movies, rode a horse, and wielded two six-shooters at his side, which earned him the name “Two Gun” Hart.

Brothers On Opposite Sides Of The Law
Revisado: 11-05-18
Vincenzo Capone was quite a colorful character but what intrigued me about this book was that he was the older brother of gangster Al Capone and actually became a Prohibition Officer. In fact, Vincenzo, who left the family, changed his name to Richard Hart, busted many bootleggers. The story of how the two brothers' paths crossed years later is remarkable.
Two Gun hart is well thought out and researched using information gotten from Richard Hart's grandson. The narrator's delivery is matter-of-fact but with a storyteller style that works well with the text. The impacts on the family members of the Capones is something I'm still thinking about. All in all a good listen. I was given a free copy and have voluntarily left this review.

Historia
A single pair of shipwrecked Viking war dogs evolved into terrifying Apex Predators that ravaged the island unchallenged. Eventually, the breakup of Arctic ice floated a few of the beasts to the North Slope of Alaska. There, they faced the valiant townspeople of Chintikook Village. Along with a boyish paleontologist and the local schoolteacher, the humans teamed up to battle the attacking creatures they called Super Wolves. It’s an adventure that pits the fangs and claws of giant devil dogs against the wits and bravery of a small group of townspeople who don’t know how to give up.

Very believable supernatural thriller
Revisado: 07-19-18
It was not hard to get into this. Author Miller has done very good research about the ruggedness of Alaska, the strange weather, and the people that inhabit it. The story is well constructed, quite believable, and very visual. The narrator gives great life to the characters making them real people with shifting attitudes and fears. I was given a free review copy of this at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Reporter Smith Gets a Major Story
Revisado: 11-08-17
I very much enjoyed this story about the hellraisers working in the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota where reporter Cooper Smith and his wife are drawn into a kidnapping case. The author does a great job of capturing the feel of small town America hit with disturbing crime. The narrator is excellent, well matched for the story and characters.

Courageous Crime Fighter
Revisado: 03-08-17
I very much enjoyed River City Blues. It's an interesting portrayal of the WWII era in Richmond, VA. Bennie Sherwood comes home after serving in the Marines and gets a detective job in the police department. Author Ward Howarth writes a gritty story about two investigations that are on a collision course. The dialogue was realistic and the developments in the cases come together for an exciting ending. I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Ward Paxton whose style makes the moody and tough character's lives seem very real. The bad language in a few spots didn't bother me at all because it is so in keeping with the characters.

Underwater, everybody can hear you scream, but they can't tell where you are.... Ketch is at it again in the magical Outer Banks of North Carolina, in this new adventure from the author of Port Starbird and Port of Refuge. It's a picture-perfect summer afternoon on a pristine beach near a ghost seaport on an uninhabited island. What could go wrong? But things do, when two bodies wash ashore and Ketch stumbles upon clues that lead to the sunken treasure of an old-time buccaneer off Portsmouth Island.

Revisado: 02-12-17
I have vacationed in the beautiful Outer Banks, N.C. area and I got this book, which takes place there, to reconnect with it. I gave 5 stars for the story which is about finding sunken treasure and what happens to the characters that find it. Ketch and his family and friends seem to do a marvelous job of proving that money can't buy happiness. The author, Garrett Dennis, used to live there and brings a lot of the area's history to life, which I appreciated. And there is an otherworldly element that is both spooky and humorous. I got the audiobook version narrated by Ward Paxton, whose casual style fits the book nicely. I loved the voice he does for the fishing boat captain. There is an environmental message in the book, which I really liked because it gives hope that the area will remain unspoiled.
