Historia
Zachareth, Baron of Carthridge, is a driven, ruthless, and obsessive man—a man who could be a hero, but he wants so much more. Having watched his father fall under the sway of a sorceress, Zachareth grows up craving knowledge and power. When his tutor at Greyhaven introduces him to forbidden magics, Zachareth discovers there is more to power than meets the eye. As he returns home to a barony on the verge of rebellion and beset by necromantic foes, Zachareth must choose his true path—the path of virtue and heroism, or that of darkness and villany.

This book kicks ass

Quite simply, it's great. A deadly and layered rise to power is appropriate for a character of this much weight in Terrinoth lore. Performance is powerful, sometimes a hint too intense but overall excellent. I will be reading this more than once!

Phenomenal, emotional, and epic story

I could eat your whole family and you still wouldn't feel even close to as much as you do from reading this book. This book greatly appeals to me as the found family trope is alive and well and flourishing within the pages of this novel, and Fantasy Flight hired a great author to bring the world of Terrinoth to life. Robbie MacNiven absolutely murdered this project. This isn't your traditional fantasy story, and the characters are as flawed as the world they live in. only complaint is the narrator doesn't have the best tone I've heard, but his voices are excellent.

Historia
When the baroness of Forthyn's daughter disappears, she calls on the legendary orc hero Durik to find her. Durik enlists his old questing partners - the dwarf alchemist Ulma Grimstone and roguish Logan Lashley - in the hopes of reliving their glory days. Together they journey to fear-struck Fallowhearth. There, instead of clues, they uncover necromancy: graveyards emptied of corpses, with trails of footprints leading into sinister Blind Muir Forest.... But the forest holds more than just the walking dead.

Another fat W for Terrinoth novels
Revisado: 05-05-22
This book is perfect for new and old fans of this series alike, Terrinoth has always had a rich wellspring of Lore that's deep but not overwhelming, and this book exemplifies that. The characters and their storied pasts might be familiar to Descent players, but the direction this story takes it is simply excellent. I got a gut punch to the feels a few times, and the narrator does a superb job of making each character feel unique and human.

A fantastic opening to a fantastic setting
Revisado: 04-26-22
This book is phenomenal. Emotionally driving, creatively inspired. more people should read Terrinoth novels. I hugely appreciate the setting and games (Decent, Runewars, etc) and this book does it justice and really makes the world feel alive. No punches were pulled and it felt like a bloody struggle doused in hope. My one criticism is that the narrator occasionally fails to give the weight a sentence or line might deserve, though his character voices are excellent.
