Historia
In the 1990s, Carter Wills was the lead singer of the English alt-rock band Mayluna, securing his place among music legends. His tortured-heart lyrics struck a chord. And so did his secret connection to a woman whose love changed all their lives. Who was she? Evie Waters’s two grown children discover an iconic photo in an old magazine of a “mystery girl” with Carter: their mother. It all started in a wistful time and place for Evie, her twenty-fifth summer.

Completely Different From Her First Book
Revisado: 03-04-24
I did not enjoy this one. I was expecting time travel and mystery like her first book. I thought the “shooting star” thing at the beginning of the book would go somewhere and lead into some sort of magical adventure but that didn’t happen. This was a boring story about a woman that makes incredibly terrible life decisions and hurts a lot of people along the way. It was awful.
The only good part was the woman narrator but I’m not so certain that she was pronouncing Evie correctly. If she was pronouncing it correctly, than that makes the book even worse. The man narrator had a very strange accent. He should have just read his part instead of changing his voice.
I do hope the author goes back to the style of her first book. Her first book was one of my very top favorites!

It was good!
Revisado: 05-27-23
I did not have a problem with the narration. Unlike other British hot and heavy accents, this narrator was more understandable. I didn’t think she read fast at all. It was quite understandable to me but I’m from North America and the British accent can be difficult but not here. I enjoyed the narration.
The story was good. It was different enough from other stories and I had no idea how the ending would turn out. Not bad. I liked it!

Eventually, Henry's mind blocked out the bad memories, but he continued to draw, often at night by the light of the moon. Twenty years later, Henry makes his living by painting his disturbing works of art. He loves his wife and his son, and life couldn't be better...except there's something not quite right....

Good Story!
Revisado: 03-07-23
The Category says it all: coming of age, horror
A kid has nightmares like all kids do but he’s extra creative so his nightmares are extraordinary especially one which haunted him into adulthood. Having to deal with death as a child or even as an adult would give anyone nightmares. I thought it was a good tale. Short and to the point. It was good. I don’t have anything negative to say about this story. The narrator was excellent! Well done!

Boring!
Revisado: 12-02-22
Long, boring, and blah!! The grand discovery was dumb! What happened? We were waiting for the big reveal and then when it finally happened, after being tricked the first time, blah! I had to listen to it a second time to make sure I didn’t miss something but it didn’t happen. Big lead up to boring disappointment.

I Enjoyed This Book
Revisado: 09-25-22
Halfway through the book, the narrator started making these annoying throat noises whenever she was reading for Margret, the main character. Eventually, this stopped. So other than that, the narrator was awesome! Her use of different voices and her reading speed, superb!
The story was a little strange with the animal communication however, once I got over that unreal part, it was a great story. Sort of like a book about aliens. You have to just pretend because that’s what the whole story is really about. I also thought that the conversations between Margret and the people characters at time seemed unbelievable. Like, no one really talks like that. No one has conversations about real life emotions with your enemy that is about to kill you.
All in all it was a really good story line. I did enjoy it and will be looking to read more books from Iris Johansson.

Long Winded
Revisado: 08-17-22
Like other reviewers have said…. too much detail that at times it got boring. Other parts could have had more explanation. This is my least favorite of all the Koontz books that I have read. Saying that, I enjoyed the story line and characters and I plan on listening to the next book in the series..Seize the Night.
I did enjoy the narration and his female voice impersonation was bearable.

I Enjoyed It!
Revisado: 08-04-22
The one thing I don’t understand is why they don’t hire two narrators, one for each gender. It’s just a little odd when a man narrator changes his voice to portray a female. This narrator wasn’t too bad, I’ve heard worse female voice impersonators.
I didn’t understand why the particular group of characters were brought together in the end. What was the purpose of Kenny and LeeAnn’s character in the end? It was entertaining and I did enjoy each character’s personality but I didn’t grasp why these particular people met at the house. It was obvious because they all had a connection to Asher. And then what? What should have happened? What was the point? What were they going to be doing at the house? Why were they called there? I missed something.

Ho hum! Just okay! I was waiting for a big “reason” for the “why” question and it didn’t happen for me. I’m not very satisfied with the whole situation and conclusion. Colin, why? Just strange. But maybe that was the point! Weirdos are everywhere! I didn’t care for this story! Sorry!
The narrator was excellent!
