I did not see this one cunning. I've had a 3 book streak of crap and this came out of nowhere, and it is fantastic! I'm not one to give full reports, so I'll just say this - give yourself a break and enjoy a listen that doesn't fit into any one category. It's simply awesome.

Historia
“You know what people really need? Somebody who will listen hard and then find a way to tell them, ‘It’s not all your fault. It’s going to work out fine. Don’t give up.’” So advice columnist ‘Dear Lily’ Brown deeply believes. But Lily could write a letter to herself, asking what to do about an ex-husband who still wants her dating advice, how to redecorate the family home she’s kept exactly the same since her parents died tragically young, how to move on with her strangely becalmed life...and what to do when your wild-child estranged sister storms back into town.

I almost talked myself out of this one and I am so glad that I didn't. Do yourself a great service and fall in love with these beautiful people. Cry with them, get outraged by the stories, and then feel amazing throughout.

Surprisingly Good
Revisado: 07-25-22
I almost dorky l didn't choose this because the reviews were consistently rough for identical reasons but I'm so glad I did. Reviewer's generally hate the main character but that's sort of the point. Its that dislike that is a super good reason to hear her story in its entirely and see if you've learned anything about yourself on the way. Plus if I put down every book with an unlikable character in it I'd be stuck with rereading the cat in the hat for the rest of my life! I hope you enjoy your time either way...

rough narrator/story not fluid
Revisado: 07-16-22
the premise had the potential to be very good but it fell short. the narrator just could not get the characters right, the men sounded like teenagers in constant confusion, making the women sound like grandmothers. it was unsettling. seemed like maybe the author's first draft of a first book.

Men Can Read, Too
Revisado: 07-04-22
This story is a total twist on the stepford wives and can be enjoyed by everyone. I mean, how many books can really say that? We get to see all sides of the idea of an equal utopia and get to question what we each think. This was so entertaining AND thought provoking that I am so glad I didn't cast it aside. Unfortunately, the narrator doesn't do the story any favors as she sounds like she is asking a question the entire novel.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.
