Historia
College student Joe Talbert has the modest goal of completing a writing assignment for an English class. His task is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, and soon nothing in Joe's life is ever the same. Carl is a dying Vietnam veteran-and a convicted murderer. With only a few months to live, he has been medically paroled to a nursing home after spending thirty years in prison for the crimes of rape and murder.

An interesting concept

I enjoyed the story overall. The ending was predicable but in these troubled times seeing the good guys win is refreshing.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

I did like the character development. Although as with many of his books, it revolves around lawyers , the characters are developed and made you want to know the outcome.

I enjoyed the story but I didn’t realize that I would be listening to a fantasy as that isn’t this authors usual genre. Fantasy isn’t something I generally enjoy.

I was reluctant to listen to this book. I thought it would be the same old thing - chick lit. Not at all! The author brings through the pain (although I did predict three different paths of the novel as I was listening ). This is well worth a read ! If you are reluctant you won’t regret it.

Historia
Anna has a life to envy. An apartment in New York. A well-meaning (too well-meaning?) partner. And a high-flying job in beauty PR. Who wouldn't want all that? Anna—it turns out. Turning a minor mid-life crisis into a major life event she packs it in, heads back to Ireland, and gets a PR job for a super-high-end coastal retreat. Tougher than it sounds. Newsflash: the locals hate it. So much so, there have been threats—and violence.

Historia
They hunt us. They bomb our worlds for target practice. A star cluster in the constellation of Orion rotates once every 1,000 years. Those who rule there have an ancient tradition: When each cycle ends, they train their fleets by spilling the blood of lesser beings. The enemy fleets are coming again. In response, the Rebel Worlds gather their starships to face the terrifying threat, and this time humanity is asked to stand with them. The last time they considered Earth, Vikings in longboats were raiding English coastlines. Today, we're less primitive. Today, we're a target.

What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town? The answer, you fall for him. It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding. We had a plan. It was a good one. Until it wasn’t. I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close.

Simply beautiful
Revisado: 08-03-24
As with many of this authors books I start off thinking “ I don’t think I like this - it’s so predictable “ but I keep listening and as the story is woven I am drawn in and as the book draws to a close I wish it had never ended. Susan Erickson is a magnificent narrator.

Very political
Revisado: 07-27-24
I found this book a bit too heavy in American politics for my liking. As a non American I usually find it interesting to learn more about different countries issues but this was a bit too much. I really like Mr Isles books and had been looking forward to this one for a long time but I have to admit for the first to being disappointed in one of his books. I will absolutely read his next book but this one was a disappointment.
