Historia
In 1785, a sensational trial began in Paris that would divide the country and captivate Europe. A leading Catholic cardinal and scion of one of the most distinguished families in France stood accused of forging the queen's signature to obtain the most expensive piece of jewelry in Europe: a 2,800-carat diamond necklace. Where were the diamonds? Was the cardinal innocent? Was, for that matter, the queen?

Wild story
Revisado: 10-18-23
The story was a real page turner! Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. 4 stars because the narration was a little stiff but overall well done.

Historia
Lirael lost one of her hands in the binding of Orannis, but now she has a new hand, one of gilded steel and Charter Magic. On a dangerous journey, Lirael returns to her childhood home, the Clayr's Glacier, where she was once a Second Assistant Librarian. There a young woman from the distant North brings her a message from her long-dead mother, Arielle. It is a warning about the Witch with No Face. But who is the Witch, and what is she planning?

Good story, bad narrator
Revisado: 08-04-23
Maybe not Nix’s strongest most compelling story but I did enjoy it and was eager to keep listening. However, the narrator was a far cry from the narrators of the first 4 books. She just read it, no performance. Also, maybe it was just me, her intonation was very strange. I’m going to get a hardcopy to reread. At least the voices in my head put on a better performance.
