Historia
Sometimes recording an album is easy for Bobby Bird, and sometimes it's hard. But never has it been harder than the time he recorded "Cherry on Top." Carson Mell's first novel, Saguaro, chronicled rock legend's Bobby Bird's entire life, save for the period when the rock star was at the peak of his fame, a period which caused Bobby too much shame and embarrassment to illuminate. In Cherry on Top, Bobby Bird shines a light on one of those hilarious and harrowing years when the world was Bobby's oyster and he was absolutely out of control.

Fell asleep
Revisado: 09-17-21
Found myself dozing off.It is narrated in a monotone on a subject I am not interested in. Thought it would be a fun read. Oh well, live and learn.

Historia
It’s the rule - always watch your Fives and Twenty-Fives. When a convoy halts to investigate a possible roadside bomb, stay in the vehicle and scan five meters in every direction. A bomb inside five meters cuts through the armor, killing everyone in the truck. Once clear, get out and sweep twenty-five meters. A bomb inside twenty-five meters kills the dismounted scouts investigating the road ahead. Fives and Twenty-Fives marks the measure of a marine’s life in the road repair platoon.

Crying.
Revisado: 07-01-15
I loved this book, even tho it made me cry. This is a rare occurrence for me. The story brought home the stupidity of the human race. Maybe it is time to disappear into the mists of time. Just like the dinosaur .

Historia
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses.

Narrater we arent
Revisado: 12-03-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different narrater would have really made this book. I was so disappointed in the narration that I even returned this book. Ms Roberts, please find someone else to narrate, because this looked like such a good trilogy.
What do you think your next listen will be?
not this trilogy and not this narrater. Sorry ms.Kellgren
What didn’t you like about Katherine Kellgren’s performance?
For some reason she was shouting all the witches dialog, even when it didnt call for it. Unless the irish folks slways shout at each other. Way tooooo much drama.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I was really excited about a new Norah Roberts trilogy, but will by pass the others if she has this same person narrating.

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

Different
Revisado: 02-03-14
What made the experience of listening to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry the most enjoyable?
I at first I admired the determination of Harold to walk all that way. But i never understood why he didn't buy hiking shoes, and a backpack.
What other book might you compare The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry to and why?
I think it reminded me of an Irving story called A Prayer For Owen Meany. I enjoyed that one too even tho it was different from my usual read.
Have you listened to any of Jim Broadbent’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't think I have heard this gentleman before, but I enjoyed his voice and accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
not especially. I kept going back and forth between books. But I did like it.

Historia
From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Oprahs suggestions.
Revisado: 02-03-14
Where does The Invention of Wings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This one ranks way up there with me. I mostly disagree with Oprah, but this time it was a good suggestion.
What did you like best about this story?
I have read The Secret Life of Bees so I knew I was in for a good time. I could hardly stop listening long enough to do anything else.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved the narration they did a good job. but I havent come across a bad one yet. Narrators free my hands to crochet , paint, sew, cook, etc.
If you could take any character from The Invention of Wings out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Id drag them all out.
Any additional comments?
nope
