After listening to at least a half dozen other of Lovegrove's Sherlock Holmes stories, I have to say this was a MASSIVE disappointment. All the others varied from good to great, but this was just a rambling mess. Mister Kleinman was the only bright spot, doing what he can with the material, but he can't save it all on his own. It was real slog just to finish it, which took me at least three times as long as any others as I would just get bored listening to it.

Avoid this one.

I really feel sorry for Simon Vance. Having to do this book must have been a real struggle for him as a talented narrator. I wonder if he ever fell asleep while recording...
Story: Well, you heard it all before a thousand times and written a thousand times better as well. People were listeingg to this boring AF story in a tavvern and didn't throw empty beer mugs at the teller? Me thinks not.

Characters: Cardboard cutout tropes.

A very enjoyable listen. Seems to be much more about relating the story of what happened and less about creating good and bad guys for dramatization. Plan to listen this again in a few months.
