Historia
In April 1944, Rudolf Vrba became one of the very first Jews to escape from Auschwitz and make his way to freedom—among only a tiny handful who ever pulled off that near-impossible feat. He did it to reveal the truth of the death camp to the world—and to warn the last Jews of Europe what fate awaited them. Against all odds, Vrba and his fellow escapee, Fred Wetzler, climbed mountains, crossed rivers, and narrowly missed German bullets until they had smuggled out the first full account of Auschwitz the world had ever seen.

The horror and joy of the survivor
Revisado: 07-19-24
I knew the suffer of the victims been through in the concentration camp, but I never think of how tough and resilient they were. Thanks for sharing their brilliant experience with us, we should never forget their story.

Historia
When Napoleon eventually died in exile, the Lords of the Admiralty ordered that the original dispatches from seven major fleet battles - The Glorious First of June (1794), St Vincent (1797), Camperdown (1797), The Nile (1798), Copenhagen (1801), Trafalgar (1805), and San Domingo (1806) - should be gathered together and presented to the nation. These letters, written by Britain's admirals, captains, surgeons, and boatswains and sent back home in the midst of conflict, were bound in an immense volume, to be admired as a jewel of British history.

New perspective
Revisado: 07-13-24
Wonderful book and new perspective for the navel history of Great British. I learned mush about the men that really fought in the battles

A groundbreaking account of how Britain became the base of operations for the exiled leaders of Europe in their desperate struggle to reclaim their continent from Hitler, from the New York Times best-selling author of Citizens of London and Those Angry Days.

Disappointment
Revisado: 09-14-23
More like fantasy than historical fact, too much personal opinions from dubious standpoint that is far fetched from true to say at least

Historia
The Gulag - a vast array of Soviet concentration camps that held millions of political and criminal prisoners - was a system of repression and punishment that terrorized the entire society, embodying the worst tendencies of Soviet communism. In this magisterial and acclaimed history, Anne Applebaum offers the first fully documented portrait of the Gulag, from its origins in the Russian Revolution, through its expansion under Stalin, to its collapse in the era of glasnost.

remarkable insight
Revisado: 09-02-23
History always repeats itself and yet as Ms Anne Applebaum suggested that if we don't face our past, we couldn't recognise the true. What's happening in Ukraine, it's exactly the consequences of the denial of the true.
