Historia
Avalon was the flagship of the Castle Federation in the last war, now 20 years past. The first of the deep space carriers, no other warship in the fleet holds as many honors or has recorded as many kills. No other warship in the fleet is as old. Accepting the inevitable, the Federation Space Navy has decided to refit her and send her on a tour of the frontier, showing the flag to their allies and enemies as a reminder of her glory - and then decommission her for good.

boring and hard to follow
Revisado: 01-23-24
it's just not worth it. and it takes something really bad to put me off. The narrator was good but the story was just too much blah blah blah blah blah and the action was way over complicated. too many players from too many different places to be able to keep things straight in your head as to what the heck is going on. I made it to chapter 13. decided that was enough.

Historia
Ananke may have the powers of a god, but she is consumed by a very human longing: to know her creators. Now Ananke is on a quest to find companionship, understanding, and even love. She is accompanied by Althea, the engineer who created her and whom she sees as her mother. And she is in search of her "father", Matthew, the programmer whose code gave her the spark of life.

Character development is non-existent! halfway through the book and I still don't know who's who or how they relate to each other. scattered references to sister mother ships. other people, totally confusing.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Good story, enjoyable listen
Revisado: 03-19-23
Action with the right mix of comedy and tech and suspenseful moments. several mini-stoties building on top of each other. Kept me wanting to read (listen) on.
