Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Late at night inside the two-person Dragon spacecraft resting on the frozen surface of Saturn’s moon Enceladus, Derya Terzi put on headphones and became the first Earthling to hear the sloshing of the enormous subsurface ocean beneath his feet. Intoxicated with the promise of discovery, he could have sworn it was whispers between inscrutable creatures of the deep. He was convinced they were days away from settling the most profound and existential mystery known to humanity: are we alone in the universe?

Beyond 5 stars, epic and unforgettable
Revisado: 11-08-19
I received this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
There have been few Sci-Fi books that I have liked as much as the Martian, this is one of them. This book is destined to become a Sci-Fi classic that may even shape our near future of space travel. The stunning research, simulations, and calculations that the author, J.P. Landau, has done in order to create this book are mind bending.
A trip to the Saturn system for humans may seem a life time away but J.P. Landau considers a near future where a private organization funded by humanity as a whole seeks to do this very thing. Without several of the bureaucratic strings and regulations that tie down government agencies this organization is able utilize SpaceX's current or near future spacecrafts and plans a launch not many years from now.
With a round trip of 6 years this story is not only exquisite in it's science and adventure but also describes what the 5 individuals of the crew will go through to maintain their own emotional well being while being faced with a possibility that they may never return to their world and loved ones that it contains. J.P. Landau does an incredible job in describing how the best among us may react or possibly even fall apart in the face of unimaginable hardships and trials.
The adventure of Oceanworlds is unparalleled by even far future Sci-Fi books. With the search for extraterrestrial life (not the green aliens you may be picturing but even something as small or smaller than bacteria) being the main driving force for many of the crew and organization you will experience the moons of Saturn and Saturn itself in details that you have never considered before. Several times, you will find yourself picturing the beautiful clouds of Saturn swirling and churning like you were looking down on it with your own eyes. You will consider the rings of Saturn reflecting sunlight and saturnshine even while being in the shadow of Saturn. You will see the shear ice cliffs of Enceladus and walk in it's mere 1% of Earth gravity. You will experience so much more than I can articulate here.
Andrew Dennis and Caitlin Campbell blow the narration out of this world. I struggle to think of any other narrators who could have done a better job than they do. J.P. Landau really went all out in making this a performance for the reader. The static of communicating over radios, and the accents for each of the multi national crew and organization members bring this book to life.
Overall this will be a book that I will buy a hard copy of and undoubtedly will listen to again in the not too distant future.
P.S. For those of you Sci-Fi fans who crave actual science in their science fiction, J.P. Landau has added a free PDF with the appendix for this book on his website www.jplandau.com, where he goes over several of the facts in this book. I haven't had much chance to read the appendix myself yet, but hope to do so soon. Apparently, in the hard copy of this book there are also footnotes so I'm looking forward to that as well.
Get this book, you won't regret it.

Fast paced while slightly underwhelming
Revisado: 09-09-19
I recieved this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.
The events in the book happen at such a pace that you are never just sitting around listening to pages of character descriptions, political events, or other things that really long books seem to always require. Because of this, the whole fantasy world seems underdeveloped but Hodges still does a great job in his descriptions of the environment to help bring you in.
The magic system is rather weak in some regards but also refreshingly simple. You can expect great feats of magic one minute and then days where the characters are fresh out of magic the next.
The main character does have a lot of personal progression in mental fortitude and magic through the books, I would say almost too much for not being trained in the majority of the things that he does and for how little time actually takes place in these books. At some points you feel (based on how the characters are talking) that years have gone by only to discover that from beginning to end of the series maybe 3 months maximum pass by. In relation to that, relationships seem to come out of no where.
You can also expect that things will go pretty much as you predict they will go, not many surprises around each corner.
So overall I would say it was worth a listen but definitely not the most fantastic thing I have listened to. Also, give the narrator a chance. When I started out listening to the book I was disappointed in the narrator but he definitely grown on me over time and seems to fit the book quite nicely.
Last of all, EVERY character freely spills tears whenever anything happens. Definitely could have been less of that.

Historia
In the early 21st century, humanity marveled at its greatest creation: artificial intelligence. They couldn't foresee the consequences of such a creation. Now, in a world where humans must meet specifications to continue living, a man named Caesar emerges. Not meeting specifications - indeed, thinking things no human should - eyes fall on Caesar, eyes that could kill him or lift him up, lead him to tragedy or revolution.

Entertaining Concept but Lacking Something
Revisado: 12-01-16
I received this audio book in exchange for an unbiased review. I've never read a book with a world quite like the world found in this book so for originality this book should get five stars. There just seemed to be something missing and it's hard to put my finger on but I'll attempt to expound. I would say that for taking place 1000 years in the future there were too many modern references or phrases used. I would imagine swearing wouldn't be so prominent in an idealized society. Sometimes the swearing really just felt like a cop out from really expounding on a conversation or a character's feelings. There were one or two times where the main character showed incredible abilities like in being able to upload information without being overwhelmed or being able to solve incredibly complex equations but these signs of intelligence or ability really only showed in a couple places, where to go along with the story it seams like they should have happened much more frequently.
Overall great book with decent performance but lacking in only a few areas.

Revisado: 10-05-16
I began worried that I would never even get all the names of the characters down let alone grow to be fascinated by the story. I came to find myself stealing spare moments to listen to the story of the Blood Song unfold. All together fantastic performance coupled with an even greater story. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of this story.

Short but great
Revisado: 09-14-16
Jumping into this book I was skeptical, I usually don't listen to books that are shorter than 10 hours but Salvage Marine took me by surprise. In a world, or perhaps even a universe, where the money is weighed above the lives of individuals, one man seeks to make a different life for his budding family by risking everything. It's enthralling and action packed the entire time. The author makes great descriptions of battles and environments that make you picture every moment of the book. All in all, a great but sadly short book. I can't wait to dig me teeth into the next books of this series. I recieved this audio book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Fantastic story
Revisado: 07-08-16
This book allows the reader to enter the fantastical story from within their own existing world. Starting out with a boy, not very different from many, going through a normal life, a reader can easily become immersed in the highly relatable story. Events that seem realistic and reasonable take the normality of the story to a spectacularly extraordinary situation. Jonathan Tibbs, the protagonist, so relatable to the reader, carries them along in his epic struggle for his own life and that of the whole world.
