Historia
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

Bahni Turpin is a wonderful narrator as usual
Revisado: 01-09-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I did enjoy this book. It is well written. It is a bit predictable, but enjoyable none the less.
Would you be willing to try another book from Laila Ibrahim? Why or why not?
Yes, I may try the next book, Yellow Mustard.
What about Bahni Turpin’s performance did you like?
I always enjoy Bahni Turpin and, in fact, download books based on if she is the narrator. She is soothing on the ears, does excellent character voices and brings stories to life. I loved her voice in The Help and have followed her on audible ever since.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. It is a bit long for one sitting. I would listen to this on my commute to work and while cleaning the kitchen.

Creepy, true, but also a great story. Each character is so well developed. And the narrator is fantastic. I really liked it and can't wait to listen to the next book by Andrew Taylor.

Historia
In lower Manhattan, a charnel pit of horror is uncovered: the remains of 36 people murdered and gruesomely dismembered over 130 years ago by an unknown serial killer. Just as a museum archaeologist and an enigmatic FBI agent begin to unravel the clues to the killings, a fresh spree of copy-cat murders and surgical mutilation erupts around them. Mixing science and terror in a way only they can, Preston and Child deliver a novel that's as gruesome as it is enthralling.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 12-13-04
Rene Auberjonois is a great narrator and Preston and Child are fantastic writers. They have created a modern Sherlock Holmes in Agent Pendergast. I can not get enough of this FBI Agent! All in all, very enjoyable listening!

Historia
Behind the gates of a fabulous Hampton estate, FBI Special Agent Pendergast discovers the carnage of a gruesome crime, a nightmare of seemingly supernatural origin. The smoldering remains of infamous art critic Jeremy Grove, a melted cross branding his chest, are found in a locked, barricaded attic. The hoofprint singed into the floorboards and the smell of brimstone recall the legendary horrors that befall those who make a pact with the Devil.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Author should stick to writing only
Revisado: 12-13-04
When the author reads his or her own book it can go either way. When Douglas Adams reads his, brilliant. However, in this book, the author is not a good narrator. I couldn't even get past the first chapter. I was not engaged and I am not sure if it is because the author's voice is distracting me or if it is the actual book. I imagine it could be both. I would play it safe and check this book out at the library before purchasing.
