Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

I give up
Revisado: 03-06-25
Book is a side story about a character you don't even know. Story could have been omitted entirely from the series. This author loses track of the main plot and instead focuses on the aformentioned side story. Second book he's done this in. I'm giving up on this series.

Historia
Commodore Jack Romanoff and his merry band of ragtag navy rejects—skilled yet young war reenactors, a rescued navy crew, and a Confederation spy—have rescued more than two hundred civilian ships and escaped a massacre in a battleship over two centuries old. Too bad they blew a fusion plant doing it.

skip this book in the series
Revisado: 02-09-25
Adds nothing to the story. Could have been a few chapters they stretched into a book. Waste of a time filler story. Skip to the next book.
SPOILER
All that is in this is Failed mutiny, find a unknown ship and jump out of the system. Less than 30 minutes of content that advances the story.

Historia
Terra is besieged. The outcome of the war lies on a knife edge. The Warmaster Horus’ bloody seven-year crusade has led to this – the cradle of humanity, where he is to kill his father, the Emperor. With the war at this critical juncture, Sanguinius, primarch of the loyalist Blood Angels, braves the horrors of the Warmaster’s flagship, The Vengeful Spirit, with a single purpose in mind – to slay his brother Horus, decapitate the Heresy once and for all, and stop the forces of Chaos from taking Terra.

story is tired repeats prior books
Revisado: 08-24-24
Long time listener. Has started to wear thin the last few but this one feels especially tired. Only so many times you can go back to the same formula and repeat before it gets old. Central some minor mission there McGill gets killed, wakes up on starship romance w new girl green deck exercise, fight aliens. He needs to deviate from this formula which has served him well for 20+ books now and the man characters have to envolve or change in the next book or this series is dead.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

I preferred the original musk book over this but both are great. This one is more up to date, but choppy how it's written. Still an engaging read. I highly recommend reading the first book then this.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Historia
Now the site of EBO’s first completed Red Cathedral, the Onyx Delta has become the center of the virtual world, and the entire player base is descending on Ned’s city to try their hand at the fearsome new raid and reap the game-changing rewards within. At the same time, a powerful, menacing guild is running roughshod over the western continents, razing every city in their wake and winning Frank’s obnoxiously loud approval from afar. But Ned knows that it’s only a matter of time before their forces sail east to the delta and attempt to burn down everything he’s built.

author strikes the right balance
Revisado: 10-11-23
The author strikes the right balance, you feel like you're playing the game with the character. At the same time you feel like the characters are real people. Talking bearded axe strikes the right humorous sidekick and antagonist tones as well. Well done.

Historia
Rigel is a thousand lightyears farther from the Core Worlds than Earth, so they suffer the first attacks. The mood at Central is jubilant. Our greatest rival is falling—now is the time to strike while they’re weak! Legion Varus is deployed to Jungle World, a vital planet deep in Rigellian territory. Our foes, fighting on two fronts, are driven back with ease. But one man questions the wisdom of this move. Should Earth expand with greed, aiding new monsters from the Galactic Rim? That lone voice of reason comes from James McGill.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.
