Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Historia
Faith, I tell them, is a mystery, elusive to many, and never easy to explain. Sweeping and lyrical, spellbinding and unforgettable, David Ebershoff’s The 19th Wife combines epic historical fiction with a modern murder mystery to create a brilliant novel of literary suspense. It is 1875, and Ann Eliza Young has recently separated from her powerful husband, Brigham Young, prophet and leader of the Mormon Church. Expelled and an outcast, Ann Eliza embarks on a crusade to end polygamy in the United States.

Historia
Julia Sweeney says she was a "happy Catholic girl" when, one day, she walked into church and signed up for a Bible-study course. "What an eye opener that was!" she says. Equally comedic and insightful, Letting Go of God is Sweeney's brilliant one-woman show about her struggle with her faith.

Any additional comments?
I enjoyed learning Julia's story and hearing how she has searched and thought out a spiritual foundation for herself. She asked many of the same questions, struggled with the same text, attitudes and dogma I did while attending seminary. I have great respect for Julia, because her beliefs are her own based on her own prayer, meditation, study and search, and not that of a closed minded faith that was handed to her without her own participation. I found this book to be smart, fresh and thoughful. Blessing to you Julia on your continued search.

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

If you could sum up Middlesex in three words, what would they be?
know thy self
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this story, and the realness of how decisions we make have an outreaching consequence on many more people than we can conceptualize ourselves. I loved the sociology of family and traditions and the point of view of the narrator, Cal. This magical glimpse into things we seldom get to see regarding social taboos of sexual attraction and even gender differnces, was presented in a fresh way that allowed for compassion and understanding instead of contempt. "Middlesex" was only made better by the preformance of the reader, who brought each character to life and added sheer delight to the telling of such an outstanding story.

Historia
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

Where does Quiet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I have read other books on the subject but appreciated Cain's information regarding the nueorological connection on introverted behaviors. I have already recommended Quiet to several of my friends and family.
