Historia
Pulitzer Prize, Fiction, 2016. It is April 1975, and Saigon is in chaos. At his villa, a general of the South Vietnamese army is drinking whiskey and, with the help of his trusted captain, drawing up a list of those who will be given passage aboard the last flights out of the country. The general and his compatriots start a new life in Los Angeles, unaware that one among their number, the captain, is secretly observing and reporting on the group to a higher-up in the Viet Cong.

A Brilliant piece.
Revisado: 04-26-17
Nguyen has clearly full control of the English language as he masterfully tells this tale of a vietimese revolutionary's plight during the post Vietnam war aftermath. this book may have you laughing and it may have you crying but it will sure leave you wondering what the hell was that war that tore a country in two all about. His descriptive story telling as narrated by Francis Chau was superb and frankly blew my mind with the way an Asian American has taken so many American phrases and expressions and used them so well in the story. I look forward to reading more of his books.

if your a winchester fan as i am, you might want to sit in for a brief geography lesson on the san adrias fault line that caused the SF earthquake in 1906 as explained in this interview.
