Slow start but gets much better
Revisado: 04-19-24
I was about to turn off the story but decided to listen to one more chapter and glad I did. The story is excellent once it gets going. My only negative is that it really needed a male voice in addition to the current narrator. There were just too many characters for her to change voices enough to follow who was speaking.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Not my normal story but glad I listened to it.
Revisado: 04-25-23
The book was not my normal genre, but I did enjoy listening to it. The strengths were it kept my attention.
Being from NC the repeated mention of the ocean and Asheville were unusual as they are at least 8 hrs from each other.

Excellent historical fiction book about Montana
Revisado: 02-17-23
My favorite books are historical fiction and this is a great one. Loved leaning about the history of Montana through eyes of Mary Ronan. Have to make a road trip 2,000 miles to see the lake and area she loved.
Excellent narration and the story kept my interest

Story kept me thinking about it even when not listening
Revisado: 01-10-23
I usually listen to books when in the car. This book made me look forward to driving. Was mixed about the ending but sometime life is nothing but hard choices and decisions that for good or bad change the course of your life.
Highly recommend.

Ava thought her job as a librarian at the Library of Congress would mean a quiet, routine existence. But an unexpected offer from the US military has brought her to Lisbon with a new mission: posing as a librarian while working undercover as a spy gathering intelligence. Meanwhile, in occupied France, Elaine has begun an apprenticeship at a printing press run by members of the Resistance. It’s a job usually reserved for men, but in the war, those rules have been forgotten. Yet she knows that the Nazis are searching for the press and its printer in order to silence them.

Historia
Rex “TW” McMurtry’s perpetual singlehood wouldn’t bother him so much if all his ex-girlfriends didn’t keep marrying the very next person they dated, especially when so many of those grooms are his closest friends. He may be a pro-football defensive end for the Chicago Squalls, but the press only wants to talk about how he’s always a groomsman and never a groom. Bartender Abigail McNerny is the gal-pal, the wing-woman, the she-BFF. Abby is convinced no one on earth could ever entice her into a romantic relationship...except that one guy she’s loved since preschool.

Mixed opinion
Revisado: 10-21-22
I’m not sure that to say about this book. Bad and good, I knew where the plot was going, no surprises. Abby was over the top obsessed with Rex right from the beginning but then as the story progressed she doubted the relationship. Despite that the story did keep my interest and I wanted to finish the book.

The story line was okay. Kept my attention for the most part. Not one of those stories that you can’t stop thinking about or looking forward to.
Narrator needs to stick to reading and not try and to do voices.
