Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Reading this book will enhance your life!
Revisado: 08-22-20
I mean it! I have had this novel on my list for a long time. I have looked at it and just moved on to something else. The other night I decided to give it a listen! Mind blown! This is the most wonderful book I have read this year. The characters are amazingly flawed, but redeemable (most of them) and the story draws a reader in. I listened to this one - read by the author - and thoroughly enjoyed it. You know the old movie tag line - "You will laugh! You will cry! You'll be amazed!" - well, that's how I feel about this book. I love Robert Dugoni's books and this is right at the top of the list for me. I recently became a Catholic, and some of the scenes bring smiles to my face, others bring shudders. Do yourself a favor and get this on audible.com. Robert Dugoni does a fantastic job of making his own words come to life. Just sayin'...

It's been twenty years since the five friends known as the 'Lightning Five' visited their hunting cabin together. Twenty years spent living in the shadow of something they did in high school - an event that forever defined them in the minds of everyone in their small town. Before too long, supplies will run low and they will have to make some hard choices - like who gets to live and who has to die...

Historia
Raised in the historic southern splendor of Natchez, Mississippi, Penn Cage learned all he knows of honor and duty from his father, Dr. Tom Cage. But now the beloved family doctor has been accused of murdering Viola Turner, the African-American nurse with whom he worked in the dark days of the 1960s. Penn is determined to save his father, but Tom, stubbornly invoking doctor-patient privilege, refuses to even speak in his own defense.
