Historia
In Killing a Messiah, New Testament scholar Adam Winn weaves together stories of historical and fictional characters in a fresh reimagining of the events leading up to Jesus's execution. Based on what we know of the first-century context, Winn's narrative offers compelling explanations for gaps in the Gospel accounts. The social, political, and religious realities of Jesus's world come to life and shed new light on our reading of the biblical texts. In a city full of political entanglements, espionage, and competing interests, the blame for the crucifixion is complex.

A different angle
Revisado: 12-23-23
I think we can be stuck on a cultural context of our own time looking back at the life and death of Jesus. This opens up some thoughts to chew on of why humans who couldn’t see through their own issues to a greater truth and could have done terrible things in the name of what they thought was the greater good. We still do that today?
It’s an interesting read… definitely recommend it.

Historia
All My Knotted-Up Life is a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

Beautifully complex
Revisado: 05-12-23
I was touched to laugh and cry through this raw and vulnerable story. In a time we want to see sound bites and black and white clarity the complex nature of people and their lives is dealt with here gracefully and honestly. I couldn’t put it down.

Historia
Few subjects are as compelling-or as endlessly variable-as love and marriage. The Bible is filled with references to husbands and wives, from the story of Adam and Eve to advice in the New Testament, each open to interpretation. In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call.

Eye opening clarity
Revisado: 11-01-18
I am already a Tim Keller fan but this book opened new layers of clarity to some of the ‘mysterious’ issues in my marriage. Very helpful- a book I would have loved to have read before getting married in the first place! Still the wisdom I have already found helpful in making changes to my current life.
