Historia
In September 1998, Michael J. Fox stunned the world by announcing he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease: a degenerative neurological condition. In fact, he had been secretly fighting it for seven years. The worldwide response was staggering. Fortunately, he had accepted the diagnosis and by the time the public started grieving for him, he had stopped grieving for himself.

Historia
Far Side of the Moon is the untold, fully authorized story of the lives of Frank and Susan Borman. One was a famous astronaut - an instrumental part of the Apollo space program - but the other was just as much a warrior. This real-life love story is far from a fairy tale. Life as a military wife was beyond demanding, but Susan always rose to the occasion. When Frank joined NASA and was selected to command the first mission to orbit the moon, Susan’s well-hidden depression and alcoholism finally came to light.

Interesting NEW perspectives in this book
Revisado: 08-07-22
I've read quite a bit about Apollo 8, but appreciated the story being told from a different perspective.
The reading was a little dramatic at times, and I was not a fan of the impressions to make it sound like different people. I prefer the author reads their own work, although I get the author a great review on this book.

Historia
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Mechanic written and read by Marc 'Elvis' Priestley. In the high-octane atmosphere of the Formula One pit lane, the spotlight is most often on the superstar drivers. And yet, without the technical knowledge, competitive determination and outright obsession from his garage of mechanics, no driver could possibly hope to claim a spot on the podium.

The story is really good too! I very much enjoyed his insights on McLaren, and I learned a few things about Kimi Raikkonen.

Historia
NBA fans had low expectations for rookie coach Nick Nurse and his Toronto Raptors. But what those naysayers didn't realize was that Nurse had spent the past 30 years proving himself at every level of the game, from youth programs and college ball to the NBA D League and Britain's struggling pro circuit. While few coaches have taken such a circuitous path to pro basketball's promised land, the journey - which began at Kuemper Catholic high school in Carroll, Iowa - forged a coach who proved to be as unshakable as he is personable.

you do not need to be a raptors fan to enjoy this book. Nick does a great job demonstrating many of the things that will make you successful in sports and business.
I do wish the narrators did not try and sound like the author... it usually doesn't come off well... and this reading is no exception.

A good book made better thanks to Jerry's reading
Revisado: 11-05-19
Lots of good stories on the Jays that I had forgotten...and inside baseball stuff that I had no idea.
Jerry does make reference to his faith a few times in the book... but it's pretty light dot-dot. so don't let that scare you off if that makes you uncomfortable.
To his credit, I never knew about Jerry's faith until this book - that's a pro.

An outrageous indictment of Donald Trump's appalling behavior when it comes to golf - on and off the green - and what it reveals about his character. Based on Reilly's own experiences with Trump as well as interviews with over 100 golf pros, amateurs, developers, and caddies, Commander in Cheat is a startling and at times hilarious indictment of Trump and his golf game.

Historia
In August 1968 NASA made a bold decision: In just 16 weeks, the United States would launch humankind's first flight to the moon. Only the year before, three astronauts had burned to death in their spacecraft, and since then the Apollo program had suffered one setback after another. Meanwhile, the Russians were winning the space race, the Cold War was getting hotter by the month, and President Kennedy's promise to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade seemed sure to be broken.

I absolutely loved the book. There are many insights in this book that I didn't know about the mission.
The book did a great job explaining how Apollo 8 ia the space geeks' best Apollo mission - there were so many firsts.
The narrator didn't excellent job of getting out of the way of the story.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

I really like the way Damien folded in the stories of players and coaches as he told the story of the games themselves. This added a human element that was unexpected and is very much appreciated.
