Historia
After her family suffers a tragedy, nine-year-old Alice Hart is forced to leave her idyllic seaside home. She is taken in by her grandmother, June, a flower farmer who raises Alice on the language of Australian native flowers, a way to say the things that are too hard to speak. Under the watchful eye of June and the women who run the farm, Alice settles, but grows up increasingly frustrated by how little she knows of her family’s story.

Horrible accents
Revisado: 06-28-24
It was an ok story with a great narrator, until she tried to do a Mexican accent. It was awful. If you can’t do an accent, don’t narrate a story in one. Otherwise the narrator did a great job with an ok story. It was a waste of a credit in my opinion.

Historia
My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Much better than the last book
Revisado: 06-26-24
I really liked this story. I was worried after the last book (which I hated), the series had lost my interest. This book was great and I had a hard time putting it down.

Historia
My name's Griz. I've never been to school, I've never had friends, and in my whole life I've not met enough people to play a game of football. My parents told me how crowded the world used to be, before all the people went away. But we were never lonely on our remote island. We had each other and our dogs. Then the thief came.

Ok story, good narration
Revisado: 06-23-24
The story was a bit slow for me. I would listen and not come back to it for awhile because it did not capture my interest. I think the author narrated the book. He did a really good job, the story was just slow in my opinion.

Historia
On the surface, Chief Dove Carnahan is a true trailblazer who would do anything to protect the rural Pennsylvanian countryside where she has lived all 50 of her years. Traditional and proud of her blue-collar sensibilities, Dove is loved by her community. But beneath her badge lies a dark and self-destructive streak, fed by a secret she has kept since she was 16.

It was just ok
Revisado: 06-27-23
***SMALL SPOILER ALERT***
This book was ok. The lead character has been sleeping with a married man off and on for years. This makes her very unlikeable to me. Also the guy she is sleeping with misses a few things in the case which she uncovers. He is supposed to be a good detective/cop, so this seems very unlikely to me. The ending isn’t exactly as I thought, which was a nice surprise. It was good enough, and held my attention. The voice actor reading the story did a really good job. I probably won’t read another of her books, but I’m not upset I used the credit.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Glad I listened
Revisado: 06-21-23
Pretty good story. I’m from the south and the guy reading the book did not have a convincing Southern accent. That threw me at first but I got used to it. Overall it was a good use of a credit.

Historia
Featuring original music by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon! It's 2003 and Romy Hall is at the start of two consecutive life sentences at Stanville Women's Correctional Facility, deep in California's Central Valley. Outside is the world from which she has been severed: the San Francisco of her youth and her young son, Jackson. Inside is a new reality: thousands of women hustling for the essentials needed to survive; the bluffing and pageantry and acts of violence by guards and prisoners alike; and the absurdities of institutional living, which Kushner evokes with great humor and precision.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Unique story
Revisado: 01-16-20
The story started off a little slow for me. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to sit through it. It picked up a couple of chapters in and I couldn’t stop listening. One of the better zombie stories. I really enjoyed it.
