I was so excited to listen to this book, I will be buying a hardcopy soon! I enjoy Amber and Lacey and their style of narration was pleasing to my ears! thr subject matter was funny and tough, but wholly true... I look forward to more installments of this series "All about the Ruffin's -stories of how we survive and thrive with racists through the years" this book was Powerful Black girl Magic!

this was an amazing book, with an amazing performance. I would recommend 100x over! the stories are hard tho hear/ read, but well worth your time

I'm sorry I listened for and hour, and I couldnt power through. the narration was too....yuck. they either should've gotten a Male to read the Male parts and did this story duet style, or found an actor who can do a males voice with some believability. The reading was off, in terms of what should have been simple punctuation, and it just sounded like a woman trying super hard to deepen her voice. I would be interested in READING this story just to see how it develops... but I couldnt listen to it. Sorry.

Ummmmm it was...okaaaayy?!

I struggled to get through this one. the narration/actor was not good. she struggles to differentiate between the female and Male characters. sometimes it sounded like she was reading in a bathroom (echo....echo) the Male voice just wasnt good. and land sakes when there were 2 or 3 males to narrate.......ugh it was just too much. words that have do with anatomy (you get my meaning) were over enunciated you could hear every hard C (no pun intended) and P every time. I will read the next book....maybe.

this book was so good to listen to. Rachel is real and raw, and has a great way of imparting her wisdom and experience to us who are reading/listening. there were times that I to take a break because the truth of a chapter hit me in a sensitive spot. So if you have those moments too, consider your face washed! know better and Do Better
