I bought this book as I am about to embark on my own stem cell transplant journey. I needed to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly but also know there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Congratulations Delia on your rebirth, may you and your love live a happy and healthy life together.

I was never a great fan of GMA and RR, but having read her story and understood her strength and resiliency, I can honestly say she’s won me over, big time! I was drawn to her story due to my own recent diagnosis with MDS. Her story has given me hope that maybe I too can find the strength to see this through to good health again. Thank-you Robin.

Maureen did a great job narrating her own story. I grew up with the Brady’s and they were a part of the cadence of my childhood. The Friday evening lineup of the Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family and the Odd Couple was a fixture in my routine. It was very sad for me to hear how many struggles Maureen had growing up but heartwarming that she made it through and found a light to go to. It sounds like her Mom was right, Maureen’s husband is a “keeper” as my grandmother used to say. I’m glad I bought the book and would recommend it to anyone that grew up with the Brady kids.

Mr Brokaw is an outstanding storyteller that has lived an amazing life. His story of his cancer battle was inspiring and thought provoking. I lost a dear friend to MM 11 years ago at the age of 51. I can’t help but think if he would have been diagnosed just 4-5 years later, he might still be here.

From my first book (Mornings on Horseback), Mr McCullough has been my favorite author. I have two more to go to finish all of his books. He and his wife were friends of my parents on Martha’s Vineyard and I have a few signed copies of his works from his signings at Bunch of Grapes Bookstore in Vineyard Haven on the Vineyard. A master historian and storyteller, Mr. McCullough is missed greatly. I hope he’s listening to some Dixieland jazz with my Dad in Heaven.

Who would have thought that 3/4ths of the Monkees would be gone before The Rolling Stones? I was only 7 at the height of the TV show but I still remember the series fondly. Marcia Brady was so lucky!! Would have liked to have had more discussion on the group itself but I understand what Davy said at the end. Thank you for the music and the memories.

Overall not too bad but I thought there would be more detail on some of the major companies, technologies and highlights of the railroad era. Some of the chapters dragged and weren’t interesting to me, but overall, I enjoyed the book.

I SO wanted to love this book as I’ve always been great fans of both Marlo (That Girl) and Phil (Is the caller there?). I love their love story. The book had great promise. What I didn’t like was that it wasn’t narrated by the people themselves. Even the parts that should have been narrated by Phil or Marlo were done by others. For me, that was super disappointing as I often didn’t realize who was supposed to be speaking. Was it Phil, Marlo or one of the subjects? The premise was great, the execution was flawed. Some of the marriage stories were decent and I could relate, others were boarding on the pathetic (it’s okay to disrespect my wife for the sake of the art). Please….

Ed Sullivan and Sunday nights were a mainstay in my home throughout the 60s. Everyone that was anyone made the Sullivan show a must, almost as much as the Carson show in later years. This was a great condensed biography that was a very easy listen. An added bonus, brought back a lot of memories, especially that second Beatles appearance!
