These omegas and alphas of the western provinces bring the drama. This is a great twist on the fated mates trope. The will they or won't they will drive you mad for many chapters. Great listen.

the adventure continues and communication improves. that is not to say that clarification is not needed. Romance, fatherhood, tentacle pulling, and more.

Enjoying this hockey series by Rachel Reid. Started with Book 3 and have backed up to book 1 now. These are stories happening in the NHL and the AHL today. Just this past year the NHL banned Pride tape. So I appreciate the very real struggle Reid tries to get to in these very human stories and have conversations about gender stereotypes. As difficult as the decision to come out can be, one can be mentally and physically freed by it. To not have to hide on and off the ice or something as simple as dating someone you are interested in. Scott faces a very real and career threatening scenario when he begins his relationship with Kip, who also finally looks at what it is to be pushed back into the closet.

Listening to both books on Audible because I love Tor Thom's narrations. I have to say that I agree with others that this is not his best. This is a bad Boston-posing-as-a-Brooklyn-accent. Honestly I just wish he hadn't even tried. But not to fault Thom. The editors or publishers (whoever OKs these things) should have done something. I almost didn't finished but the story compelled me to continue. It was worth it hanging on for the second half of the book.

Always love Tor Thom's performances. Shiloh James was also very good. The story however left me wanting more. For someone who has both a mother and a sister with Atlan warrior mates, Stephanie is either stubbornly obtuse or just dumb about Atlan customs and mores which lead to many missed opportunities. In itself this can be very exciting to read - will they or won't they figure it out. Grace Goodwin has used this trope in many of her stories. Here though the pacing is both too slow and too fast. Side characters just drop off at the end. What happened to them? I love a good HEA this one was OK.

Overall a solid story and great performances by the narrators. There were a couple of points in the story were I thought, really? that's a bit of a stretch. It's mostly the behavior of secondary characters. Love love love Lucy and Olive together. And Lucy's story is equally enjoyable. Love that Olive really wants her Jason and not "The Jason Thorn", and as much Jason wants that someone who sees him. Who doesn't love that? It takes a while for them to get there, but love the journey.

Against the backdrop of war two opposed warriors meet. We've read about them in the background of several books, and now their story is here. Each new book in the Orc Forged series becomes my favorite and that is true here. So much world building. All the previous stories have the war in the background but here it is front and center. Life out on the fields of war and encampments. No long treks to Orc Mountain. Aulis is exhausted and tired of the endless war. The cost of greedy lazy men and greedy orcs is apparent in the lives of the soldiers. It's a lovely story. Two minds come together to hatch a plan to solve their problem. James Joseph gives a great performance. Loved all the voices.

There is something about this story (no pun intended) that just hits wonderfully different from the other Chicago Bratva stories in this series. I love them all, but Oleg and Story hold a special place. Benjamin Sands performance is again very good.

"Whit" is a funny and steamy MM romance that's an opposites-attract, roommates-to-lovers, HEA tale. Caleb is such a refreshing character and Alexander Candese' narration really embodies his personality. Caleb's not sure how he identifies but decides to just go with his attraction. He is the polar opposite of the angsty-questioning-his-sexuality character we usually read about. Nothing wrong with that, but it was nice to see someone who takes the ride as he also pushes Whit outside his comfort zones, too. I loved the holding hands in public moment. These small but simple moments of attraction really resonate. I love the way he continually finds himself sprawled across Whit. Caleb's family is supportive of his coming out, can we call it that? It's easy to see where he gets his outlook from with such a nurturing extended family. He feels so emotionally mature at times, even amidst the hijinx with his cousins. In some ways he reminds me of Po or Pooh in that he is accepting of those around him and doesn't over analyze. That kind of personality can be very transformative to those around them. Loved it.

The orc adventures continue. This one is much longer but just an enjoyable. Orcs would never tell you anything, but thanks to the women of Orc Mountain they begin to see the benefits of doing so. Kitty is the next in the line of these women as she helps the orcs in her throuple learn to accept themselves, as well as, some of her customers at the Great Grisk Showroom Shop. Some will listen to reason and some will not. And as usual, the men of the town are complete sh---. Enjoyed the new narrator and the overall story. Ready for the next story and audible.
