Historia
In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

Annoying insults to anyone not thinking the same
Revisado: 06-20-23
Diseases are magically all Republicans fault. Only Eisenhower doesn't get trashed by name. Trashing the father of modern medicine, Gaylen, 2000 years later to score "I'm evolved" points while cheerleading alchemists who couldn't figure out how to wash their hands between deadly, bloody, infections in the intervening 1900 years. Rah Rah alchemy!!
This book would have been much better without the constant attacks on "others" as long as their politics, ASSUMED by the author to include Reagan wanting the eradication of "da gayz". The author claims science, reason, and facts but is clearly lead blindly by hatred of anyone and anything they don't understand, agree with, or worship.

Excellent book. Well written, wonderfully read. Had the colony not been abandoned American history would be very different. Remember the Croatoan, and their English allies, even if most choose to forget or ignore them.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Loud breathing spoils the story

I adore the Brothers Grimm, but the narrator breathes loudly and frequently. I can't make the third chapter. it is that obnoxious.

Historia
Over 13 months in 1976-1977, four children were abducted in the Detroit suburbs, each of them held for days before their still-warm bodies were dumped in the snow near public roadsides. The Oakland County Child Murders spawned panic across southeast Michigan, triggering the most extensive manhunt in US history. Yet after less than two years, the task force created to find the killer was shut down without naming a suspect.

A sad tale of murder without justice
Revisado: 11-22-21
Good reading speed (1.25x) of a depressingly long, often sordid, unending nightmare for the families and those in law enforcement who actually want these cases solved. A David and Goliath story of good not yet winning out, but the giant can't get all their dirty secrets and will lose in the end.
The emotional strength and depth of resilience the families possess is awe inspiring, and the best take away is that in the end love is what matters most. It also leaves the deepest of holes at its loss, but the greatest of memories at having had it.

Interesting and Intriguing
Revisado: 09-06-21
An enjoyable audio book. The arguments are well presented, and the reader is never badgered into belief but allowed to make up their own mind. I do wish the last chapter was complete, it skips several key sentences towards the very end.

Beautiful but Deadly
Revisado: 07-30-21
The life of a US Park Ranger is anything but scenic. Add in spolit brats, psychosis, ridiculously low pay, and physical attack and one begins to see the absolute lunacy and destruction wrought on those who protect the parks, their wildlife, and us.

Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Slow Read
Revisado: 07-20-21
I had to speed up the sound repeatedly, very slow read. Not a bad book but takes until near the last section to become interesting. The author, and narrator, seems very bored of the material extremely early into the story.
