Historia
Ultra running defies conventional logic. Yet this most brutal and challenging sport is now one of the fastest growing in the world. But is it an antidote to modern life or a symptom of a modern illness? Adharanand Finn travelled to the heart of the sport to find out - and to see if could become an ultra runner himself. His journey took him from the deserts of Oman to the snow-capped peaks of the Rockies, and from a 24-hour track race in Tooting to his ultimate goal, the 105-mile Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc.

Different, but as enjoyable as Born to Run.
Revisado: 03-22-23
As the title states, it is a tangible training guideline with valuable insights and techniques. The author has added enough stories to really colour it in and make it enjoyable and inspiring and not allow the book to become'only' a training guide. If you rnkjoyed Born to Run, you will appreciate the successor.

Historia
Marathons have become too easy for some runners. What was once the pinnacle of achievement in a runner's life is now a stepping stone for extraordinary adventure in ultramarathoning. The number of ultrarunners - those running distances of 50k (31 miles), 50 miles, 100k (62 miles), or 100 miles - is growing astronomically each year. To date, there has been no practical guide to ultramarathoning. Now, Bryon Powell has written Relentless Forward Progress, the first how-to manual for aspiring ultrarunners.

Unrelatable yet insightful
Revisado: 03-22-23
This book has lots of advice and valuable information, however, I think it will possible dissuade runners from entering an Ultra.
It did not leave me inspired to take on the next/bigger challenge, where other books did that in bucket loads.
There is definitely valuable training advice in the book, but it does 'simplify' running beyond what I believe it can be done down to a checklist which is for most runners unnataibale ito either locality, resources, time, etc.
