How old is the author?
Revisado: 10-02-22
I like the series, but I'm confused on how old she thinks 39 is? Like 68 year olds are acting like their life is over and the author frames a 39 year old detective as ready for retirement. She's in the prime of her life haha. Also, body type descriptions are so off putting, anyone who is Laura is basically obese. Maybe next series the author will be a bit more in tune with anyone over 25 haha.

Historia
In Accidental Saints, New York Times best-selling author Nadia Bolz-Weber invites readers into a surprising encounter with what she calls "a religious but not-so-spiritual life." Tattooed, angry and profane, this former standup comic turned pastor stubbornly, sometimes hilariously, resists the God she feels called to serve. But God keeps showing up in the least likely of people - a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop and a gun-toting member of the NRA.

Can be a life changer
Revisado: 03-13-16
I loved this book and hated it equally. A lot of it plays out in a way that can be off putting if you allow it to be, but I didn't. I know I felt judged at times but I decided to push through really hard and then squeeze the lesson out of it. There is a lot of truth here to find but it's not easy if you aren't ultra liberal or in good physical shape. She makes her personal opinions very clear about those of us that are slightly more conservative or who aren't cross fit strong. Still, it's worth a read/listen; I hear her heart for community and some guidance on how to remain in that community pops up in different ways throughout the book. I'll give it 5 stars because of who I am after listening to it, I think that's really the point.

Historia
The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

So much to relate to
Revisado: 05-06-15
I enjoyed this book. I was hesitate because of some of the reviews I read but it was as honest as possible and personal. I get it. Last year I traveled around the country in a mini-camper for similar reasons and this touched those places no one else could understand. Thank you Cheryl Strayed.
Because this is an audiobook I want to acknowledge that the actor/narrator/whatever was quite good and I will look for her name again when choosing an audiobook.

I was disappointed
Revisado: 03-05-15
I was looking forward to some conclusion, some respect for the character of Rebecca. I never leave reviews but I'm just coming away from this sad.
