Historia
Twelve-year-old Harp Delaney is an unusual child, quiet and intelligent far beyond her years. She would rather spend her days in the library of the grand Georgian house that she sees as her home than playing on the streets with other children. Her mother, Rose, is the reserved and ladylike housekeeper at the Cliff House. The local women envy her grace and poise while the men admire her beauty. She behaves not as a servant should, but as someone who belongs at the ancestral home of eccentric loner Henry Devereaux.

Historia
Haunted houses are scary enough without knife-wielding clowns. Especially murderous knife-wielding clowns. So thinks Ellison Russell, single mother, artist, and reluctant sleuth. Now death wears a red nose, and Ellison is up to the blood-stained collar of her new trench coat in costumes, caffeine, and possible killers. Who stabbed Brooks Harney, and why? Money? Jealousy? Drugs?

Historia
That’s the real life story of country music star Jimmy Wayne. It’s a miracle that Jimmy survived being hungry and homeless, bouncing in and out of the foster care system, and sleeping in the streets. But he didn’t just overcome great adversity in his life; he now uses his country music platform to help children everywhere, especially teenagers in foster care who are about to age out of the system. Walk to Beautiful is the powerfully emotive account of Jimmy’s horrendous childhood and the love shown him by Russell and Bea Costner, the elderly couple who gave him a stable home and provided the chance to complete his education. Jimmy says of Bea, “She changed every cell in my body.”

The narrators were wonderful. This story was a very good story examining women's relationships during really trying times. The storyline really pulled you in at the very start.
It is set up beautifully for a sequel!

Historia
In a novel as warm and embracing as a family kitchen, Barbara O’Neal explores the poignant, sometimes complex relationships between mothers and daughters - and the healing magic of homemade bread. Professional baker Ramona Gallagher is a master of an art that has sustained her through the most turbulent times, including a baby at 15 and an endless family feud. But now Ramona’s bakery threatens to crumble around her. Literally. She’s one water-heater disaster away from losing her grandmother’s rambling Victorian and everything she’s worked so hard to build.

I just loved this book. I enjoyed how each of the characters were developed. The author wrote in such a way, that I just fell right into the story. The family dynamics were very believable. I am very happy that I stumbled upon this book! It would be a great book to discuss at a book club! I highly recommend this story!

Just OK
Revisado: 05-13-21
This was the book for our May Book Club read.
The story was fine, I liked the characters. It moved along quickly.
I did not care for the graphic sex scenes. That is what brought the score down for my review.
I listened to it on Audible. I did not care for the performer's male voices. They were too unemotional for me.

A VERY INTERESTING STORY
Revisado: 03-01-21
First off, the narrator's rendition of this story was very good. She was a joy to listen to.
This story of this young girl's struggle to save her land, her family and the lives of her slaves was amazing. I cannot imagine a teenager from today could shoulder even half of the responsibilities as what faced Eliza. She was a very fiercely independent woman. I loved how she treated her slaves.
The obstacles she overcame to establish an indigo business were unbelievable. It was an impressive feat. I was in awe of her. Thank you, Ms Boyd for introducing her and her remarkable life to me. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a story of strong women, and also based on a historical person/time.

NICE STORY
Revisado: 02-19-21
We were reading this book for February 's Book Club. Great romance/historical fiction for the month of Valentine's Day. I learned a lot about the history of early 20th century Ireland. Recommended for a wonderful discussion!
I listen to this story on Audible, and enjoyed the two performances. A very well done presentation.
