Kinda boring
Revisado: 04-10-24
Not much happening in this sequel compared to the original. This books seem a lot shorter and much less content.

Historia
Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. It brims with cautionary wisdom for our times, and delivers a visceral, heart-pounding story that transports listeners to the brink of the unimaginable.

Good idea but writing seemed lazy.
Revisado: 03-07-24
I like the overall premise of the book but some of the writing seemed half baked or stereotyped. All of the “relationships” in this book are cheesy and far fetched.

Good mystery with a touch of supernatural
Revisado: 10-25-23
This author is good at weaving a mystery with a little bit of spooky mixed in. I like how she doesn’t let the spooky stuff overwhelm the story.

A dark history lingers in Chapel Croft. Five hundred years ago, local Protestant martyrs were betrayed - then burned. Thirty years ago, two teenage girls disappeared without a trace. And a few weeks ago, the vicar of the local parish hanged himself in the nave of the church. Reverend Jack Brooks, a single parent with a fourteen-year-old daughter and a heavy conscience, arrives in the village hoping for a fresh start. Instead, Jack finds a town rife with conspiracies and secrets, and is greeted with a strange welcome package.

Glimpses of Martin’s genius

Overall the book is ok. Story doesn’t really grab you and drags at times but you do see glimpses of Martin’s talent as he gets ready for GOT.

Better than the first one
Revisado: 09-01-23
This book was better than the first since it actually had a story to follow instead of a bunch of disjointed short stories. I don’t think I will continue this series. Might pick it back up later on.

Some stories were decent, others were not very engaging. Where is this collection of stories going? Needs a direction or focus…maybe a main bad guy to make everyone work together or something. Meh

The narrator could be better
Revisado: 07-19-23
After the success of the Hunger Games, I expected a better narrator. Doesn’t distinguish voices for the different characters and the parts where he is “singing” the songs are hard to listen to. The story we pretty good but not as a good as the original series.

Historia
When William stumbles through a portal in the middle of Antarctica, he'll suddenly find himself in a world unlike any he's ever known. Now, he's surrounded by monster girls, vicious warlords, and everything in between. Worse, his only weapon is a magical branding iron, which seems to have one skill and one skill only, to overwrite slave brands. Thing is, monster girls seem pretty grateful about being freed from the tyranny of their masters, and with each one he brands, the stronger he becomes.

I normally enjoy these type of books but I couldn’t get into this one. The flirty dialogue of “You’re the best!” Then “No, you’re the best” got old fast.
