Not a stand-alone
Revisado: 06-16-23
I’ve read many novels by this author, but apparently I missed the previous ones in this series. I was completely lost about the characters and story. Don’t assume this one stands alone. About the only thing I took from this one is that the male protagonist (? Cade) is overbearing and obnoxious.

Painful to listen to
Revisado: 05-23-23
As an avid SCUBA diver and cave diver, I was excited to find a mystery novel that featured my hobby. I didn't expect the details about the technical diving to be accurate- they rarely are. But, I didn't expect them to be so bad. Scuba tanks have not had a J valve (to pull to release an emergency supply of air) for at least 40 years. And, somehow the tanks were sabotaged by the removal or substitution of a cotter pin. A cotter pin? The open water divers just blissfully entered "the cave" with no safety concerns. Oh, and the blind cave fish was swimming about on the reef. But, the main thing that bothered me was that the protagonist seemed determined to flirt with/sleep with every man she encountered despite being in a relationship that's serious enough that her boyfriend paid for her vacation. I couldn't help disliking her.

Fantastic start to a new series
Revisado: 01-23-22
Who hasn't fantasized about being stranded on a deserted island with someone special? Trinity Dunn's debut release, "More of Us to the West"is a fantastic breach listen! The mix of survival, adventure, and romance kept me listening almost non-stop. Somewhat reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe, LOST, and the Outlander novels. And the cliffhanger of an ending has me desperate to listen to the newly released second book in the Adrift series, "Feathers Floating through Ember". Unfortunately, that one is not currently available (or iisted as a prerelease) through Audible Audible, please take my money and let me listen to some more of the story!

Great Lakes Diving, shipwrecks, and Scott Brick.
Revisado: 11-28-21
As a Great Lakes wreck diver, I love the setting! And the story was entertaining, even though the location of the Griffen is incorrect. And as always, Scott Brick is the master narrator. I immediately downloaded the second installation in the series, "The Sail" to entertain me on the long drive to the dive site.

Getting snowed in at a luxurious, rustic ski chalet high in the French Alps doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world. Especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a full-service chef and housekeeper, a cozy fire to keep you warm, and others to keep you company. Unless that company happens to be eight coworkers…each with something to gain, something to lose, and something to hide.

Story entertaining, but Snoop bios were annoying!
Revisado: 09-22-20
I love survival stories and mysteries, so I figured this one was going to be a treat. However, the Snoop bios at the beginning of each chapter totally broke up the flow of the story, were repetitive, and added NOTHING to the story - especially since all of the characters were off-line for the majority of the book. So very annoying - to the point of my wanting to bang my head against the wall screaming "make it stop!", "make it stop!".

Too much dramatization.
Revisado: 03-21-19
Story was entertaining, but I much prefer to just have a narrator read me a book. The dramatic music was annoying and repetitive, and I really didn't like that the title was repeated at the beginning of each chapter (or edition).

Yawn!
Revisado: 11-24-12
What did you like best about Merry Christmas, Alex Cross? What did you like least?
I am a fan of the Alex Cross series but this one was a disappointment. The book was much shorter than most of the Alex Cross books, and the lack of character development obvious. And rather than being left with a warm holiday feeling, my main emotion was annoyance at the annoying whining grandmother and wife who couldn't accept that a police officer might be subject to being called out on a Holiday. It was totally unbelievable that Bree would go to a hostage situation and ask that Alex go home.
What could James Patterson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Put some effort into it. A side story about the new foster child might have added to my interest.
Could you see Merry Christmas, Alex Cross being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
NEVER
Any additional comments?
Why was this 6 hour book broken into two parts? Come on Audible, we don't need to "make the download faster" with a story this short.

A light listen that kept me listening
Revisado: 05-16-05
Although I normally prefer unabridged books, the abridging of this one was very well done. It's an excellent mystery and the charactors are memorable. I'd like to be able to listen to previous novels of the same series and I'm looking forward to Sudden Death. The only thing I could have done without was the music- more of a distraction than anything else.

Murder and mayhem in the parks
Revisado: 04-07-05
Enjoyed the story, but agree with a previous reviewer that this one is somewhat darker than the previous novels in the series. Narration was a bit distracting with frequent mouth noises. I'd like to see the handicapped climber and her dog in future books.
