Good story until…

Why do so many writers feel the need to add explicit sex to romances? It is really hard to find good romances these days without all the spice unless they are geared towards teens or are religious.
This one was going along great, I like a slow burn, but then half way through it’s literally hours of sex I have to fast forward through. It gets so old.

A mixed bag, but good

Some stories were better than others, but most were outstanding, and very romantic. the last narrator, Vilinsky, was outstanding, did a phenomenally romantic male Scottish accent.

It’s a great read, very well narrated, very romantic and empowering. Even two romances for the price of one. Would love to get more on the friends’ romance, maybe another separate story.

Fun story but juvenile heroine

I generally liked the story but the thoughts and actions of the main character were those of a 13 year old. That was grating. Could have been so much better with more mature adult thoughts - and I don’t mean sex. Also, the narrator, while good otherwise, didn’t do a good job with the male voice. Gave it an English accent but still sounded female.

Complex magic vs insanity theme

Great narration, though sometimes the female narrator was speaking so fast I would forget to breathe. I especially liked the last chapter with the guy’s point of view of the whole story. Not so fond of the religious overtones, but loved the magical aspect.

Also the female narrator kept falling in to a slow pedantic rhythm, as though she were reading to a group of small children. The male narrator was good.

A common trend

I love Ali Hazelwood’s work and style. I love the romantic style she does with the very intelligent nerdy people. What I don’t love is her caving to the general trend of adding more sex and more sex focus of whatever type to the romances. Her stories are interesting enough, good enough, that she shouldn’t feel the need for the cheap hit.
In the intro she says this is her favorite book she has written.
I hope in the future she doesn’t write in shades of gray.
I was disappointed.

Good story but….

Good story but read a bit like a travelogue, not sure if it was just the narration or if it was the writing too, very dry descriptions, even of the emotional moments. A shame because the premise was interesting.

We don’t get “The Good Part” at the ending
