There is a section missing in chapter 3. I checked in the print edition. I hate when this is done to a wonderful book.

Abridged without letting the listener know. Very annoying. Reading is excellent though. The whole series is great.

Why cut any of it?

fFirst, the reading is excellent. I love Anne Hancock's performance. But why were Sir John's little songs cut out? Chapter 26 for example, the text leads into him singing about Caractacus Jones. in the audio the lead-in sentence is omitted as is the song. Why? I want the whole book!

Great listen BUT crucial chapter missing

This is a lovely romantic tale set in 1600s Indonesia when the Dutch had a monopoly on the clove and nutmeg trade. I enjoyed the story thoroughly and the narrator was great BUT there's a crucial section missing. I checked with the Kindle Unlimited print version and it's just not there.

Great Deserted Island Tale

Nim is such a great, strong girl character! She and her friends (a sea lion, a marine iguana, and a great green turtle) survive alone on the island while her father is adrift in a broken-ruddered boat. The email correspondence with Alex is perhaps a little contrived and the ending is incredibly fortuitous but you will be happy with it! I know I was.

Excellent story and great narration!

Maya is the half-goblin son of the Emperor. He was exiled since birth but has now been recalled because he must become the new Emperor after the death of his father and brothers. I loved this political fantasy when I read it, and worried about the narration because of all the difficult Elvish and Goblin terms. The narrator does a FANTASTIC job of making the words sound totally natural, and also provides great voices for the characters. (His female voices are weaker but in this book, most of the speaking characters are males.)

Highly recommended!

Excellent reading of classic tales

I really enjoyed Ralph Cosham's narration. He does the voice of Bagheera so well, and it's different from Baloo or Mowgli. One note - this recording includes for the First and Second Jungle book. The Second Jungle Book, also narrated by Cosham, is available separately but I don't think you'd need it.

Very good romantic fantasy

I'm going to say the "bad" first - why does the narrator pronounce the name "Zoe" - the main character - as ZO? It's Zo-ee and always has been, whether it's spelled Zoe or Zoey. Hearing Zo Zo Zo throughout the book is really frustrating.

That said, the narrator does a great job, I enjoyed listening to this very much.

Great performance, but a weak-ish plot

The narrator gives a great performance, including singing a bit of Mad Margaret's song from Ruddigore with aplomb and skill. The mystery is one of Macleod's weaker efforts but the setting on a small Maine island is delightful, and it's always fun to see Cousin Theonia again.

Very peculiar recording

I love the poem Curfew Shall Not Ring Tonight with a kind of ironic fondness for its melodrama. So I bought this recording. First; there are multiple announcements for the website of the producing company. Why?
Then, the production starts with 2 verses of Curfew, followed at once by 2 verses of Towser. Huh?
Finally it starts all over again and you hear all of Curfew, then all of Towser (after another website announcement!)
Once you really get to the poetry, it's ok though Towser is narrated in a most un-Kansas-like accent.
