The narrator was, of course, absolutely perfect.
The story was extremely compelling, well plotted and kept my attention throughout.
I listened to this book faster than I’ve listened to anything in a long time.
I never leave reviews, but in this case, I’m will make an exception.
Michael Caine, you are an amazing actor and I love your movies but dear sweet Lord, you need to write more books.
Keep this guy who’s your narrator. He’s also an amazing actor, but he gets you.
Recommend highly!

Richard Ferrone is a hard hard act to follow

Just wasn't the same.
Robert Petkoff is perfectly fine and I've always appreciated him in other circumstances but it just was not the same.
Without Richard Ferrone, the same characters and for some reason the plot (which like many Sandford plots has holes you can drive a truck through but that's never bothered me before) just fell flat.
I have lived on Crocus Hill for many years and know the area quite well, so that was probably part of the problem for me, together with the lack of Ferrone. Crocus Hill is a vibrant community where people know each other well and have for decades - I did not recognize the community he described.
Oh well.

This was a fascinating book about a Belgian detective working in the Netherlands. I thought it was engrossing and well read. However, it’s only the first part. We need parts two and three!

The problem with the book is that it's a whole new cast of characters outside of Minnesota. Not nearly as interesting and compelling.
It also drones on too long.
Overall, pretty stale which is surprising as you would think that the change in venue would switch things up a bit.

Wonderful wonderful book!

This book is so well-written, so clever & witty, I can't believe I just stumbled across it. The author has since published another - Audible, please add it, using the same narrator!
Excellent fit between narrator & material.
Loved it, want more!

Jake Weber is one of the absolute best narrators. Audible should use him much more often.

Don't waste your time with this book. It is poorly plotted and tedious, a typical first try. Not worth the price and absolutely not worth the time.

probably this was written by a machine. just dreadful.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Sandford again?

hard to tell.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

well, he sure couldn't save a really bad book.

What character would you cut from Field of Prey?

all of 'em.

i've been a big sandford fan for decades but the books have been getting more and more violent and sloppy. so disappointing.
