Surprised With How Much I Liked This Work!

Bought this on a Daily deal and left it to languish in my library. Finally started it and now I am sorry it's over. The story is strong with both a mystery and fine character development. I am not Catholic but found the framework of the story fascinating.

The narration is excellent and the book satisfying.

Loved it, great narration & humor. Not SciFi lover, but loved this! Let this sit in my library for months just not expecting to really enjoy it, but I was dumb & wrong...great listen!

Best deal I've ever received from Audible

I read plenty of the negative reviews and understand the issues, certainly not PC. That said, I loved all 4,not just a little, but a lot. I found them very funny and the stories were fun. Narrator is a great fit.

Listening to this team of author/narrator makes listening to anything else disappointing. This story is really fun and the dialog is worth a 2nd listen.

Burke and Patton are treasures

Classic Burke. His imagery is sometimes stunning. Another great addition to the Robicheau story. Patton is at his best.

Will Patton makes life better

Not always a fan of the weird creepiness that is the essence of Stephen King's work, but since loving his 1963 novel, I will admit he's growing on me.

Will Patton is the reason I love audio books. So he was the highlight of the experience for me.

In my audible experience of over 12 years and 300 books, nothing could match James Lee Burke and Will Patton for the perfect audio book experience...until now. I simply could not have enjoyed this book more. It combines a great character, a masterful history, great crime mystery, pop culture connections, and humor with the perfect narrator. This book begs to be LISTENED to, not simply read.

I came to this party late, purchased because the first two installments were on sale and thought I'd take a chance with great reviews, and have since used two credits to get all four installments. The best advice of all...start at the start...with this book, and work through the entire series. I can't say if the Irish accent is authentic, have no real knowledge, but if not then it ought to be.

With so much woven together, and writing style and narration that at times is dazzling, this series is at the top of my list for all time favorites.
