First off, Jason Clarke and Desiree Ketchum narrating together?! 😘🤌 Chefs kiss!

My New Year’s resolution is to start reading 1 book outside of my normal romance genre. I feel like after reading this one, I should include it as outside of my comfort zone cuz holy canoli! I mean, RK is going back to doing her usual…hiding secrets and confusing her readers so we are on our toes the entire time until we get to the answer. This one was no different, however, for some reason (IMO) this one is giving mystery/thriller than it’s giving anything else! Seriously, I was feeling a bit creeped out before I went to bed last night!

But now that I’ve finished it, I’ve started to realize I should have read this shortly after reading Rai’s story. Rai’s story had the most in detailed info on the Bratva and that is definitely needed for this trilogy so if you’re like me and forgot the ins and outs of RK’s Bratva world, I’d recommend doing a quick read thru!

I’m sure I’ll be reminded of all the things as I continue reading but, just wished it was a little more fresh in my mind and that I hadn’t read the Empire series in the middle.

So this one’s a little tricky. Lilith Vincent is one of my favorite authors. And this book had ALL the types of tropes I love! Age gap, MMC is super obsessive, it’s spicy, it was giving labyrinth…the list could go on! I think the downfall to this story is that it wasn’t very fleshed out. I feel like everything happened a little too fast. I didn’t quite understand why the author chose those starting and stopping points in the then and now. And, we didn’t get to the feelings of the MCs too much regarding their past. Tyrant more so than Vivienne. And also, Barlow was such a heavy plot in this story and…idk, if Vivienne was THIS protective of him…?!? (I’m being vague on purpose! No spoilers!) It didn’t make any sense to me. I thought there was going to be more to the story…

However, if you’re simply looking for an obsessed-with-the-FMC MMC with a TON of really good spice…you should def pick this one up. Tyrant just wanted to be in Vivienne the entire time from start to finish! I literally had to take a couple breaks it was so spicy!

But as always, shout out to PJ Morgan and Walker Williams. Idk how yall do it! Bringing these extra spicy characters to life?! Hope yall had a lot of water!

Ohhhh this one got me real good! It was such a call to the Elite Series in a new age/adult setting. To be really honest, I kinda forgot about Nicole until she was brought up as the FMC in this one and all the memories of Cruel King (arguably one of my favorites in the Elite Series) came flooding right back in!

I’m actually so impressed with Rina Kent and how she can take the most objectively awful people in one book and give them a redemption arc (like Silver who I swore up and down I hated—who became my favorite of the 4 Horsemen women). This was no less impressive! I genuinely enjoyed this story!

Dan’s growth and the eventual understanding of his character, the background RK gave him…I’m actually still shocked that he’s BFFs with Astrid in the current setting considering all he went through. Yes, I know, she can be considered his bright light or positive distraction from his world…and the fact that Nicole was such a—-it makes sense they were BFFs back then…but now, idk, I’m just shocked they’re still connected…especially with Astrid and Nicole’s relationship…or lack there of.

All this to say, I loved the character progression for both MCs. I love the recall to their youth—during the time of Elite—it was nice to revisit those moments and fill in pieces of the puzzle we never had at the time. I’m gonna love re-reading it!

And as always, shout out to Shane East and Christy Woods for lending their voices to these characters. It was awesome to listen to them bring these characters to life!

I was so looking forward to getting to know these two characters! When I first started the Rinaverse I was a little disappointed to find that Knox didn’t have a story with the Royal Elite group. But I’m glad to have found out that his story turned out to be later and to learn that his world is starting to intertwine with other characters from previous reads.

I really loved Knox and Anastasia’s story. Their chemistry was believable because their pasts and how they turned out makes sense to me. However, everything else around them wasn’t as fleshed out as I would have liked. I don’t like to do spoilers so there will be none here but, I will say, the opposing forces for these two felt a little rushed both in the climax and resolution of the story.

Outside of that, I’m glad I read it and am looking forward to pushing through the next few books in the Empire series.

Yep…these books are getting better and better! If you’re in a RK slump like I was, my biggest recommendation to you is, take a step back. Read some other books for at least 2 weeks and then come back to this world! It’s actually, truly, a fun world to be in! The books are so worth the time to go through!!!

RK really did stump me with this one! What a twist to all the secrets and mystery going on in this duet! I am truly such a huge fan of Rai and Kyle’s story! And the fact that I was unable to determine the ending just speaks to the growth of RK! The way that I cried for these two ughhh! I am so invested in reading this entire series!

I seriously cannot wait to get to the next couple of books! RK also JUST re-updated the suggested reading order on her website and while I haven’t read all the books, I would HIGHLY suggest reading it in the suggested order on her website rather than the suggested order on her pinned IG post!

I took a month off from the Rinaverse to focus on some other books and now I’m diving right into it. I’ll be honest, I did start this book at the end of January, listened to like 8 chapters of it and grew a little tired/bored of the story. So, I paused it took a month off and am so glad I did because now that I’m back in this world! I’ve found my love for it again!

***Light SPOILERS ahead if you’ve not read previous books!***

Rai’s story is such a unique one. The twins’ backstory is so sad! And it’s crazy to see how one person’s life could have gone in so many directions and we definitely see that in the twins. Her strength and her confidence is so admirable especially in the world she is living in. I am rooting for a happy ending for her in terms of her power and career. She deserves it all after all her hard work.

Kyle on the other hand…idk what to make of him. His background is an interesting one. I do love an assassin in my books! But I’m finding it hard to determine why he’s doing what he’s doing. Either Rina’s got me stumped or I’ve been away from her writing for too long!

Anyway, this was a wonderful read but I definitely wouldn’t read this story without at least reading the Lies & Truth duet!

Lastly, shout out to Shane East and Vanessa Edwin! I wouldn’t be consuming these books without y’all!

Well this was quite the roller coaster. I will say that I love our FMC Elena! She exemplifies courage so well. She’s not just a scared little omega (which she definitely was) but she also did her best to take the trajectory of her life in her own hands! Then we watch her progress into someone that pushes these idiot MMCs (and yes, I use that term lovingly) into shape!

The character growth for both the twins was wonderful to see and then we have Lorcán who just seems a bit lost while trying to get into Elena’s good side after all the craziness that transpired. Then we have dear ol’ Declan. The beta of the group who is honestly probably the smartest. He gives the most comedic relief in this story and is quite literally the best (in my opinion).

My only critique is that the books was so well paced until that very end where things sort of just pop off and then the good stuff comes 😉 I just wish that when her brother shows up, we drag that a little more, or get a bit more insight. It was so much trouble for such little revenge/payoff. Still a wonderful book that I will be rereading again in the future!

Vanessa Moyen and Michael Gallagher brought these characters to life! Kudos to Michael for voicing 4+ different characters. I was literally able to discern between three characters and I’m gonna give that to both Michael and Sarah Blue for writing it in a way where we can tell the differences between characters…even if I forgot who’s chapter we were in. It was so easy to discern!

NGL this book was one of those that popped up as an ad on my FB…you know the ones! With the alluring story that reels you in just so you can click on the link and download it. Safe to say, I was deeply influenced to pick this one up. However, it didn’t have to twist my arm too much cuz I’ve read Lexi C Foss’ work before and loved Andorra Sector!

This story was very well set up! I was shocked that it was a standalone but part of a series with books by different authors within. I’d be curious to see if any characters cross! But back to the story, I really enjoyed getting to know Clove and her men. It was truly an exciting world to step into from start to finish! The secrets that run between the packs are intriguing and finding out all the pieces of the puzzle was worth the read. My only critique for this book is that I wish there was a little more story before the epilogue. I feel like it all came down to a halt fairly quickly at the end there. And, dare I say…I kinda wanted more spice. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Still overall a worthy read! Definitely check it out if you’re into omegaverses with over protective and misunderstood alphas!

Shoutout to Sarah Puckett, Kale Williams, Jack Calihan and Jeffrey Holz y’all did a phenomenal job bringing these characters and their personalities to life!

Second book was so much better than the first. Though I must admit, the reason for the low rating for the first included the narration but for the rating for this book, I am excluding that reason despite the fact that it still stands. (If you’re confused, please read my review in Red Thorns).

But seriously, Rina Kent needs to stop playing these games with me! It’s getting a little out of hand how often I’m wrong on the plot twists and I don’t like it one bit! But, I am loving the fact that these books just keep getting better and better. I was a little hesitant about Naomi and Sebastian’s relationship at the beginning but I am really enjoying the darker themes as we start to get away from the HS bully trope and straight into the more adult themes!

I haven’t read enough of all the couples in this new section of the Rinaverse but so far I would say Sebastian and Naomi are currently my favorite couple!

I’m starting to really like Rina’s writing. I mean, I’ve come to expect the unexpected but I’ve also learned to want that in her books! This story is no different from her others. Bully romance with a side of mystery! And honestly, I’m starting to crave the mystery 😭

Timeline wise, this one picks up right before All the Lies duet. I was really excited to hear more about Naomi’s story and figure out if she really was gonna partner up with Sebastian or, if she had someone else she was going to be with!

Based on her letters, I’m really starting to wonder if this person is good or bad. I’m worried and scared cuz, we haven’t even gotten to scratch the surface of that relationship quite yet. And now, we get to find out some other details due to the ending.

Side note, I did listen to the audiobook version of this story and will be listening to the next one right after this. However, I feel like I would be remiss if I didn’t mention just how disappointed I am that a VA of Asian decent did not narrate this book. With the rise of VAs, there’s no reason they could not have chosen one of Asian decent…especially when they had to act out the Japanese accent. Seriously gave me the ick TBH.
