Amazing Adaptation

Best audible book in the series this far. You can tell the auth really honed his craft. Narrator is outstanding. Having already been primed by the prior four books, I knew I could expect a good listen. This surpassed my expectations.

Fantastic alternate Earth

Been enjoying the series. This one covers Gwen's early days in China. The narrator is great. She gave all the characters unique voices. I loved how she handled Babulya. There is a good mix of dialogue, action and growth in this book. Love the way the author handles the world building and how magic affects civilization.

Alternate magic Earth

Have already read the book on Royal road and loved the prior audible versions, it was an easy choice to try this one. The narrator does a great job giving voice to the characters. This book picks up with Gwen being Shanghaied. Literally. She meets her paternal side of the family. Gwen is also continuing to grow as a mage. In this book, Peaches is in the house!

This is the second book and ends the Sydney arc with a bang. There is plenty of magic and action.

Outstanding transmigrator story

Having read the series on Royal road, I wanted to share someove with the author and try the audible book. The narrator did bang up job reading and keeping the story lively. The world building is interesting. Basically a woman from modern Earth wakes up in her teenaged alternate self on an Earth that has had magic and demi humans. Of course she gets some unique powers and we get a magic school arc as she begins to master her magic.

Fantastic addition to Tortall

Set before the Alana series, there is less overt magic. However, the book does not suffer from it. Instead we have an absorbing nitty gritty crime story that could be from a world just a twist away from our own. The action follows our teen girl main character as she begins her career as a city guard. The narrator does a great job breathing life into the characters. It is easy to just listen and fall into the world Tamora Pierce created.

Keeps the MHI standards with plenty of action and monster killing. This one is set in the late 70s and features a strong female character plus a colorful supporting cast. The narrator did a good job bring life to the story. I had an easy time telling the different characters apart.

As another reviewer said, this is not really an action book. if you are looking for romance, you will be disappointed. In some ways this book is kind of a Japanese Canterbury Tales. The main story is told through a series of vignettes most of which involve the main characters.

amazing sci fi

If there was. sequel, this would deserve 7 stars. The main character is the queen Mary Sue, but in a fun and cool way. Basically this is a coming of age story that is packed with action and adventure. The author also stocked lots of tech like robots, AI, nanites, spaceships, mass drivers, fusion generators and powered armor. The narrator did a fantastic job.

Sadly disappointing

I was hoping for some Badass heroes fighting badass villains. This did not deliver. Instead we get a good guy who cannot quite win. If you want to listen while the main characters get tortured in detail, this is your book. I thought I was getting Mechs fighting Kaiju. That never really happens. The one bright point of this is the narrator who did an excellent job.
