Historia
There's no place like home for the holidays ... especially for Lesley Carver. Life in the big city just wasn't her jam and now she's back in Hickory Falls, working at the family diner and helping her mom after she took a tumble. Lesley longs to build a life here, working at the cafe, selling her handmade ornaments and ... er, apparently reviving her high school crush on her best friend’s older brother. Only one problem, her mom wants her to leave Hickory Falls far behind.

In 2004, doctors discovered that Carmen Rice had a stage 4 glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor, one of the deadliest of all cancers—the same cancer which killed John McCain, Edward Kennedy, and Beau Biden. After being diagnosed with a glioblastoma tumor, 29-year-old Brittany Maynard made headline news when she moved to Oregon to die with dignity. Carmen's doctor gave her six months to live, but with her faith in God and tenacious spirit, Carmen just kept beating the odds. They Call Me "The Miracle" is her story.

Carmen Rice is a True Miracle. Thank Father God.
Revisado: 06-16-24
Carmen and Darrell Rice attend Legacy Baptist Church here in northern California as do my husband and myself. We met last week in Bible study when she told me about her book, I knew I had to buy it in audiobook format. It is a story of courage, strength, and giving control to our Father God. My daughter is a cancer survivor of 4+ years. I'll buy the book for my beautiful daughter as additional encouragement. Anyone who is dealing with cancer now, a survivor, or needs to draw closer to Father God through our Lord Jesus to overcome their hardships should read or listen to The Miracle: the Carmen Rice Story. I'll ask Carmen if I can give her a hug this morning at church.

Everyone loses grandparents, right? Why is she taking it so badly? Retreating further and further from normal life, she moves to the end of the earth - the remote tidal island of Mount Polbearne, at the foot of Cornwall, hoping for peace and solitude, while carrying on her job as a registrar, dealing with births, weddings, and deaths, even as she feels life is passing her by.

I laughed out loud and cried.
Revisado: 01-03-24
I've lost count of how many Jenny Colgan audiobooks I have. I even pre-ordered one due out this summer 2024. My one negative comment is some have swearing that jars me and taking the Lord's name in vain upsets me the most. This takes away from the books for me. If Jenny reads her book comments possibly she'll keep it in mind in the future. I'm always amazed at how seamlessly each character grabs your heart. I listen in almost one fellswoop. I enjoy when there are 3 in a series.

A Must Read or Listen on Audiobook
Revisado: 06-18-23
I knew they'd make me cry.
Ron and Clint put their hearts into each story. I relived my childhood, teen, and adult years as Ron is 2 months older than me and one of my sisters is Clint's age. I knew Ronny at Jordan Junior High School. I never called him Opie. Our family moved from Burbank to northern California in the 9th grade, so I enjoyed hearing about the Parks where we use to play, The Drive-In we watched movies, and the streets where we played hide n seek.
I'm happy Clint and Ron narrated their book. Anyone that grew up in the 1950-now will love The Boys. I know I'll listen again. I told Clint yesterday that I bought the audiobook format of their book. (we're friends on fb)
Please order your copy of The Boys you won't be disappointed.

Bring God's Word to Life
Revisado: 11-18-22
Listen to the Holy Bible in a whole new way. I have several audioBible versions with this presentation being a favorite ranking up with KJV read by Max McClain. Please buy your copy and listen to God's word with the sounds we might have heard if living during the time of Jesus. I love you all in Christ.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Revisado: 09-18-22
I've listened twice since buying The Book Thief this week. The story is "see above" and narration was "see above". I laughed and cried. I do not know why I didn't buy this one years ago but it remained in my wish list until this week. If the Book Thief was made in to a movie, I will have to watch it.

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Loved Audiobook, Listened Twice Thus Far
Revisado: 09-14-22
I have to agree with several reviewers, I was confused with the time changes. I use the Save Clips feature so I can go back to a part to listen again for something I may have missed. The characters were endearing and well developed. I did not mind the jaunts and side trips others found unnecessary. I'm unable to 'read' books as I fall asleep and do not retain what I've read so all my books are in Audiobook format including the Holy Bible. I liked both the story and narration.
