the whole demon world and its world-building were pretty cool. The character interaction was interesting. The action scenes were descriptive and brutal. The story initially started pretty cool but nearing the end it started to lose me and some moment wasn't my cup of tea. I am not a big fan of "Queen". If you have a credit to burn and nothing else to read pick it up but don't waste your cash on this one.

I enjoyed the anime so I started the audiobook/Litnovel series to see where it all started. So far, I'm enjoying my time with it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is so rare to see a LitRPG story where the father figure isn't a trash person or absent. I love Vincent's whole notion that; yes I am a monster but I will do everything in my power not to allow it to define me because I love my family too much to do otherwise. It's just so refreshing to see. Also, the Dad jokes are just peak humour! The story is well put together and keeps you wanting more. The action scenes are well-described and brutally awesome. The character interactions are engaging and I love to see Vampire Dad mode whether it be with his son or his familiars/surrogate daughters. This book is just pure fun. If you're into vampires, classes, stats, and the rabid chase for loot this is the book for you! Also, this is one of those rare vampire books that isn't some lusty wet-dream nonsense. Just pure High Fantasy goodness! The narrator Travis Baldree knocks it out of the park with his performance as usual. This book is my go-to if I want to get myself some good vampire LitRPG and I can't wait for the next instalment to be released.

I enjoyed the story, though I feel the momentum that was building up speed as each book was released is beginning to falter a bit.

The parts where Adelheid was working to understand her new nature were interesting. The lore tidbits on vampires in Veles were also very riveting. Adelheid and William's military sojourn in the beast kingdom was interesting. Adelheid's ruin's explorations were a wealth of good world-building. Character interactions kept me engaged, Though I wish there were more interactions with Rowan and Herrea.

I believe the recap chapter at the start was a waste of time and thus a waste of runtime in the audiobook because normally you wouldn't start a series of books from the middle point. If you started this book you should be well versed with the previous ones.

Once again, Fathers are depicted as either trash people, cold and unfeeling or with no info on them at all. The only exceptions are Prince Fredrick who is dead but we get flashbacks of and Count Avery who is only seen in the second book. Don't get me started on Mothers. Are you telling me in a world where magic is commonplace, there have been no strides in the magical medical field to ensure safe childbearing? It is like the author is allergic to the nuclear family or at the very least parents being good to their children. I get that the structure of the Vuldar Empire's noble system makes it cutthroat, but come on good parental love can go a long way to producing well-adjusted and capable children.

Though I understand the logic behind it, I still feel the name Adelheid used to rechristen the vampire species was just clinical, bland and boring. Nosferatu was a perfectly viable name, kindred could have worked well too, hell vrykolakas or katakhanade was there if you wanted a more Greek flavour. So many cooler sounding names and she chooses what she chooses because of math.

The new female narrator was just bad. Except for Matilda, none of the other character's voices came close to the original female narrator. Adelheid was the worst because her outside voice sounded like a grown woman even though Adelheid is still physically a child. I wouldn't have minded if her inside voice was a grown woman's voice and her outside voice was childlike, in fact, that would make perfect sense, but this narrator didn't make an effort. The male voice actor tried, but it wasn't perfect by any stretch, because it's clear he just placed his spin on the male characters like the female narrator, I hated the Emporer's new voice. In the end, it's like these narrators didn't care to listen to the previous works and just said "I'm a do my own thing."

In the end, I've gone from rabidly craving the next instalment to cautiously curious to see what happens next.

This was the best book of the three by far. It was an exceptional upgrade from the first book and springboarded off the marked improvements of the second book.

The narration/performance of the voice actors was good as always, but I was disappointed that the sound effects introduced in the previous books, were substantially reduced in this book. Those sound effects made the world feel more lived in and immersive, so the lack of it here in this book was well and truly missed.

Where book 1 had a rocky start, and book 2 was much-improved, book 3 has come into its stride regarding the story. Adelheid and the core character's overall character development were mostly a treat to listen to. However, I will admit that I wish 1 or 2 core characters had just a little more development or even more presence (screen time?) within the story. I enjoyed watching the majority of the plot points laid out in the previous books, coming to a head in this one; Especially the major one regarding Adelheid. There are 1 or 2 plot points that I wasn't a big fan of but I can respect what the author was going for. I only hope the author sticks with their decision and doesn't backtrack on them later. I must state that due to spoilers found in many of the other reviews here on this platform (they may have been removed by the time you read this review), I didn't enjoy the story as much as I would have likely had. I know better for the next book since I am fully invested in this series now.

In closing, I truly am glad I stuck with this series as it got better with each instalment. I am genuinely looking forward to the next book with eager anticipation. I strongly recommend giving this series a go. It has a rough start but it picks up by books 2 and 3.
