Historia
Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar.

Great read
Revisado: 02-06-25
This was a lovely fiction woven with interesting historical details about Ireland and gorgeous poetry by William Butler Yeats.
The only distraction were the references to the wind. That part felt forced. Like it was something the author made-up just to support the title of the book. But that's a minor annoyance. It was a lovely read.

This is Young Adult book
Revisado: 01-05-25
Was looking forward to this read, but immediately lost interest by how juvenile it read.
I did a little online research and discovered it was written for young people. Audible should have made it clear that this was for youth.

A consummate insider as the girlfriend of Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac singer and guitarist, Carol Ann Harris leads fans into the very heart of the band's storms between 1976 and 1984. From interactions between the band and other stars - Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and Dennis Wilson - to the chaotic animosity between band members, this memoir combines the sensational account of some of the world's most famous musicians with a thrilling love story. The parties, fights, drug use, shenanigans, and sex lives of Fleetwood Mac are presented in intimate detail.

A Great Read
Revisado: 01-03-25
If you like 'tell-alls,' you'll love this book. She paints a great picture of what it's like to be part of, or close to people who are part of, a band . . . definitely drug, sex and rock & roll. She also gives you a glimpse of what it's like to be the partner of an abuser. It helps the reader understand the thought process and self-justification of a victim who keeps going back for more.
I saw several reviewers who claimed Lindsey has always been in love with Stevie, but I think Lindsey just has 'a type' and his competitive nature probably created a great deal of tension because Stevie's solo career was so successful.

In True Grit, we have a true American classic, as young Mattie, as vital as she is innocent, outdickers and outmaneuvers the hard-bitten men of the trail in a legend that will last through the ages.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

Loved the narration, characters were interesting, and I liked the writing style, but the story itself bored me to the point I had to fast forward and skip over parts starting about 1/2 way through.

Historia
Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

This was a fascinating read. While a significant segment of the Evangelicals have turned away from Jesus’s message so severely that I don’t think they are really Christians, there are still some good people desperately trying to redirect the church back towards Jesus. I wish them well.

Well researched.
Revisado: 05-09-24
The book was clearly well researched and it was interesting, but it was also depressing & I just never liked the main character. It may be because the book covers such a long time period and so many different angles that it felt like it was just brushing the surface. I fast forwarded through some sections. I did like the ending.

Interesting
Revisado: 02-29-24
This book is raw and real and very perplexing. I saw the author do an interview and decided to buy the audio book out of curiosity.
It was interesting to learn that Hugh's lifestyle was like one big show he was putting on for other men. I couldn't help but think of all the men who have admired him over the decades only to find his life was actually very empty. Yes, he had lots of pretty women around him, and they were willing to have group sex with him, but it sounded like no one really wanted to. It was just something they reluctantly did for the lifestyle these women wanted to have.
I was surprised to hear that young women and girls saw it as an actual goal and considered it a success to become a live-in 'girlfriend,' and it seemed like the author thought HER MOM saw it that way too.
She mentions numerous times that it all was so transactional, but then she was surprised and hurt to go on talk shows and have people treat her like it was all transactional.
I think the thing that surprised me the most is that she was a psychology major before any of it happened, and she didn't question the choices she was making until she was in deep.
I hope she is able to move on to a healthier relationship.
