Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors. I’ve genuinely loved her previous books, and I always come back to them because she handles mental health so well. That’s a huge reason I consistently enjoy her writing. Going into this one, my expectations were definitely high.

I ended up giving this book a 3 out of 5. It wasn’t bad, and there were parts I liked, but there were also moments that just didn’t click for me. The tone felt a little elementary, like it was written more simply than her other books. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it didn’t really challenge me or make me think the way her stories usually do. It felt more like a friend casually telling me about something that happened to them rather than a story that pulled me in and made me feel something deep.

The topics she tackled in this one were heavy. There’s some mention of animal death, and while it’s not graphic, it can still be triggering. The story also touches on dementia. These are both really emotional topics, and while I appreciate that she included them, the overall tone of the book didn’t match the weight of those themes for me.

One thing that really threw me off was how unrealistic the long-distance relationship was. I know there are people who make long distance work, but it didn’t sit right with me that Xavier kept putting himself in financial trouble just to be with Samantha. She never asked him to do that, but he kept doing it anyway, and it definitely didn’t feel healthy.

Some of the side characters didn’t feel fully developed either. Samantha’s brother Tristan and her sister both seemed like they were supposed to serve a purpose in the story, but I didn’t really feel like they added anything meaningful.

On the plus side, I loved all the animals, especially her cat. And for the ACOTAR girls out there, there was a cute little nod in this one. Xavier gets compared to Rhysand, which I thought was fun.

I read the book and also listened to the audiobook, and I have to say the narration was incredible. Huge shoutout to Abby and her team for getting Matt Lanter, who is also an actor. He has such a great voice and brought so much emotion to the story. The female narrator was just as amazing. Together, they really brought the characters to life and made the experience so much better.

Overall, this one just didn’t land for me the way I hoped it would. It almost read like a YA book in some ways. Still, I’ll absolutely keep reading whatever Abby puts out next because when she gets it right, she really gets it right.

This billionaire romance perfectly blends two of my favorite tropes: workplace romance and the boss-assistant dynamic. It’s the third book in the series, and although I read them out of order, I have no regrets because this one truly stood out.

I absolutely loved this one! It delivers a story with a strong female main character who knows her worth. This isn’t your typical damsel-in-distress narrative; the heroine is confident, assertive, and unapologetically aware of her value, which I found incredibly refreshing.

One of the standout aspects of this book is the family dynamic. The female lead comes from a wealthy, influential family that she was unaware of for a long time, adding a layer of intrigue and complexity to the story. I absolutely loved the siblings’ interactions and the Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the book that hinted at their stories. It made me curious to read more about them, and even though I’ve read the series out of order, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all.

The spice in this book is seriously top-notch. It’s steamy without being over the top, and the chemistry between the main characters is palpable. I’d easily give the spice a 4 out of 5.

I did a tandem read with the audiobook and e-book, and let me tell you, the audiobook performance was phenomenal. I’d give the narration a 5 out of 5. The voices, the pacing, and the emotional delivery were spot-on, enhancing the overall experience.

Overall Rating:
Story: 4/5
Audiobook Performance: 5/5
Spice: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a billionaire romance with a powerful female lead and a perfect balance of emotional depth and spicy scenes. It’s the kind of book that keeps you hooked from start to finish, and I’ll definitely be diving into the other books in the series soon!

This was another great short audiobook to listen to while you’re working. It definitely gave me some additional insight on self-care each month, depending on the astrological sign that each of them fall into. I am a Virgo and 100% I think cleaning and making sure everything is just energetically clean is such a therapeutic way of Showing some self-care to myself. I think listening to all of the other astrological signs as well was really for telling on how my family members, and my friends also could benefit from some of these things. And just also listening to my moon and rising signs as well. It was also helpful for me to understand myself a little bit more.Definitely add this one into your rotations if you’re able to.

This was a quick audiobook to get through and something good to put on even if you’re in the middle of working. I think this book will help you understand where you land on emotional intelligence. I think this is definitely a good listen for upcoming leaders or individual contributors who are aspiring to be leaders one day. I can personally say that it helped me understand my own management style in regards to emotional intelligence, and I feel pretty good about where I am. ultimately the biggest lesson is that there are multiple styles each of them have their own pros and cons however, it’s really just important that you as a leader and just as a person in general are very self-aware of how you interact with people in life and in your professional environment. It also brought a good point that just because a particular style that you use works with one person doesn’t mean it’s gonna work with someone else so you have to be readily able to pivot your style when needed. It definitely recommends this audiobook.

Overall Rating:
• Story: ⭐⭐⭐/5 (Enjoyable but not groundbreaking)
• Spice Level: ⭐/5 (Minimal spice, barely there)

Plot Summary:
• Thea (female lead) is a bartender in Montana. She has a one-night stand with Logan (male lead), who is just passing through.
• An unexpected pregnancy results, but they lose track of each other before they can exchange details.
• Years later, Logan returns to Montana for business related to his family’s foundation.
• He quickly discovers that Thea’s daughter, Charlie, is his child.
• The story revolves around them reconnecting and navigating their new dynamic.
• Logan must decide between staying with Thea and Charlie or returning to his high-society life in New York out of loyalty to his family.

What Worked:

✔ Fast-paced reunion: The story doesn’t drag out their reunion—Logan quickly realizes Charlie is his daughter, keeping the pacing smooth.
✔ Easy, enjoyable read: Not overly dramatic, making it a good palette cleanser.
✔ Some suspense: There’s a subplot about Thea feeling like she’s being watched, adding a bit of intrigue.

What Didn’t Work:

❌ Not very deep: The story was fine but didn’t leave a strong impression.
❌ Thea’s stalking subplot felt random: It’s sprinkled in but doesn’t feel fully developed.
❌ Audiobook narration: You prefer full dual narration, where male and female characters are read by different narrators in dialogue. This book didn’t offer that, making it less immersive.

Final Thoughts:

A solid, easy read that’s enjoyable but not particularly memorable. The romance is sweet, but the plot doesn’t stand out as anything extraordinary. Would work well as a light, low-angst read between heavier books.

This audiobook was so good, so good that I resisted finishing it until release day because I wanted to fully immerse myself in the story. That’s how much I was enjoying it.

Now let’s get one thing straight. This book is pure filth, and I say that with love. I knew it was going to be spicy. I knew it was MMF. But I did not expect it to come in that hot, that fast. CHAPTER FOUR. CHAPTER FOUR. Gianna, I knew this book was going to be filthy, but I didn’t think it was gonna get that filthy that quick. I had my audiobook playing while working. I work from home, so audiobooks are my thing, and I had to pause. This book did things to me. Things that are not appropriate for work. I had to stop, take a deep breath, and say, this is a nighttime book. You’ve been warned. This is a nighttime book in the most delicious way possible.

Now let’s talk narrators. I loved all of them, but Shane East. WOW. I have a new favorite narrator, and I’m officially done for. Any time I see his name on an audiobook, I’m one-clicking. No questions asked. I even checked out his Instagram, and his bio says, The Voice You Take to Bed. Sir. SIR. He is not wrong. Not even a little bit. That’s it. That’s the review.

But if you need more, this book had depth. Sometimes, when a book is this spicy, I start wondering if the story is going to hold up, and let me tell you, it absolutely did. The spice level? Off the charts. Haven’t read anything this hot in months. But underneath it all, there was still an actual story, and that’s why I loved it so much.

Reading this gave me major vibes of authors like Sadie Kincaid, K.A. Tucker, and T.L. Swan, so if you love their books, you’re gonna love this one.

Who would I recommend this to?
• If you love filth, aka smut, and lots of it, this book is for you.
• If you don’t mind high heat as long as there’s a solid plot, maybe check the tropes first, but I think you’ll enjoy it.
• If you’re curious about smutty books and want to ease into them, this is a great starting point if MMF is your thing.
• But if you’re not comfortable with smut, this is not the book for you. Just being honest.

As for me? Four-star book, five-star spice, ten-star audiobook experience. No debating, no question. Thank you, Gianna. Thank you, Valentine PR. And thank you, Shane East, for wrecking me in the best way possible.

Now everyone, go listen. No, wait. Read it. No. Read AND listen. You won’t regret it.

This book had me hooked right from the start. Nina’s mood swings were insane, felt like I needed a neck brace from all the back and forth. And Cece? Ugh, at first, I could not stand her spoiled brat energy. I was so over it. But then, as things went on, I started to feel bad for her. That poor kid was just trying to protect her mom. She figured out that if she acted a certain way, Andy would leave her mom alone. The fact that she had to learn that so young? Honestly broke my heart. She was just as gaslit and manipulated as everyone else in that house.

Andy, though, absolute trash human. The peanut butter thing with Cece’s allergy was pure evil. And the way he gaslit Millie about it, like “a father knows his child’s needs”? Yeah, no. This dude manipulated every single person in his life, Nina, Cece, Millie. And using Nina’s past psychiatric history to keep her in line? Next-level gross.

The whole focus on Millie’s size was so unnecessary. Like, why did Nina have to constantly bring up her being a size 14 or not fitting into clothes? It just felt petty and mean. And don’t even get me started on Enzo. The man was so cryptic, just say what you mean. Stop talking in riddles. He eventually came through as an ally, but his vibe in the beginning? Super annoying.

The story gave major Verity vibes (Colleen Hoover) with a sprinkle of A Simple Favor. Once Nina’s POV came in, things started clicking, the scratches, her desperation to escape, how far she’d go to protect Cece. She wasn’t perfect, but honestly, who could be in that situation? She was just trying to survive and save her kid.

The ending went exactly where I thought it would, but it was still so satisfying. Millie turning the tables on Andy was gold. He deserved every second of it, and seeing him lose control was chef’s kiss. Nina taking responsibility at the end really redeemed her for me. She knew she messed up putting Millie in that position and was ready to face the consequences to save her.

This book was solid. It kept me hooked and entertained, but it wasn’t mind-blowing. Some parts were a little predictable, but the twists were still good enough to keep me turning the pages. It’s a 3-star read for me. Gripping, worth reading, but nothing I’d rush to reread. If you’re into dark, twisty thrillers with messy characters, it’s worth picking up. No romance or spice here, but the plot carries it just fine without.

Definitely lacked the excitement and heartbreak I felt in book 1. The main characters were definitely annoying this round and I wanted to smack them. BOTH OF THEM. Sigh, at least I enjoyed the first book!
