Love, grief, acceptance & beautiful growth
Revisado: 02-04-25
This book captivated me in so many ways. Educational regarding the Vietnam War, Growth and acceptance in working through grief of any kind and love. I fell in love with the characters and could relate to each one of them. This author made the Vietnam war so relevant to those of us that only read about it briefly in school history books. My heart is with all those that served, lost as well as those that lived on with such painful memories ignored by their own country that they served.

If you read the original series, save your money..
Revisado: 08-04-15
The story was as good as it was the first time I read it. I didn't see a different perspective or not enough of one to make this re-write worth purchasing again. Not shaming the author, I would do it too but I think I would make sure there is blatant contrast to Anna's version VS Grey's... The delivery of it was too breathy making it far too cheese like for me and that probably didn't help either. I wanted Christian Grey after the original series but now I find him seriously Stomach turning. With that said, I definitely recommend it (reading, not audible) but only if you haven't purchased and read the original version. I also would have thought since it's a rewrite, the author would have made this more of a summary of all 3 books. A guys version where men are typically more to the point and less wordy would have allowed it unless she intended it more for either or but not both.

Great windy twists!
Revisado: 06-12-15
Great book but had s hard time probably the first quarter of the book keeping all the characters and stories straight. Glad I stuck w it though. Great second half w so many twists that were intimately untwined with one another!

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Revisado: 04-03-15
Great book, couldn't put it down. Libby's life and the unraveling awful truth in her family's horrible, fateful night was told brilliantly. The characters you wanted to hate but felt an odd kinship to somehow, Ben. Can't wait to read more from Gillian Flynn. 2 down and both masterpieces...

It was a interesting story with a few unexpected twists. I loved learning with Lucy who her mother was and why some of the characters rough outer shell was formed.

Love this story, the presenter, the journey...
Revisado: 02-20-15
The author did an amazing job painting a birds eye view (wide angle) of Alice's life story and emotions like a Rembrandt.. This story is about life and how it transforms without even realizing who we have become in comparison to who our younger self believed we would be... Perspective redefined.. It's beautiful, raw and left me jealous of those w short stints of amnesia that get to re-see and re- evaluate the grand scheme of what life really is meant to be about...
