Timbaland is indisputably one of the most innovative music producers working today. The Grammy Award–wining producer, rapper, songwriter, and composer has collaborated with the mega-superstars of pop, rap, hip-hop, and R&B, from Jay Z to 50, Madonna to Justin, Nelly to Björk. His solo album Shock Value has sales tipped in the millions, and the video for his international chart-topping single "Apologize" has been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube.

A must-read for fans of Timbaland.

While it glosses over some of the details behind the scenes of his production work in favor of focusing on his personal struggles, you do get some insight into his character and world-view and how that colors his sounds and musical choices, as well as his resolve to work through hardships.
There's also an occasional pleasant story here and there on the origins of a few of his notable tracks (e.g., "Pony", "Cry Me A River" and even "Earth Intruders"). I'd rare this a 4.5, would love a companion book that went into full detail on the stories behind the production on some of his notable album work, or at least several more anecdotes about how certian songs were created.

Makes some good points about the mentality that fuels their movements and belief systems. Makes sense of how and why they illogically follow leaders even if it will inevitably lead to ruin. Showcases they are more concerned about what could happen as opposed to what is actually happening. And there was an interesting moment about how people with an authoritarian mentality are more likely to be immoral, aggressive and prejudicial, even from a purely objective standpoint, and that religious delusion and self-righteousness will keep them going on with immoral actions.
The author does a good job of breaking down the information, chapter by chapter, and has a couple of fascinating experiments (like when different types of authoritarians ran a simulation on how to run the world, 18th disastrous results), however the book takes a bit to really get going and his conversational, mildly self-depricating of reading the book was hit or miss as far as taking him seriously. Good read, overall.

Solid listen for MJ fans.
Revisado: 09-08-16
If you haven't read a proper autobiography of MJ, this does a good job of addressing most of his major milestones and adds insight on his perspectives about them. However, if you were reading this hoping for a detailed explanation of the business machinations that drove his financial empire, this book only does that about half of the time, and only to highlight the outcomes of his career choices.
