Historia
Elodie never dreamed of a lavish palace or a handsome prince. Growing up in the famine-stricken realm of Inophe, her deepest wish was to help her people survive each winter. So when a representative from a rich, reclusive kingdom offers her family enough wealth to save Inophe in exchange for Elodie’s hand in marriage, she accepts without hesitation. Swept away to the glistening kingdom of Aurea, Elodie is quickly taken in by the beauty of the realm—and of her betrothed, Prince Henry.

1,000,000 times better than the movie
Revisado: 04-20-24
ok, so I listened to this because I saw the movie with Millie Bobbie Brown...I love her, but I was really disappointed by the movie. Characters weren't fully developed, we had a surface understanding of the conflict and the people involved. The ending felt rushed.
THIS BOOK, HOWEVER, was fabulous. It legitimately solved all of the issues from the movie because previously we get 3rd person internal monologue. We get many different POV, from Elodie to Henry, to Florida, to Lucinda, all the way to the dragon. That confusing vision bit in the movie, WAY cooler in the book.
The ending? I won't give spoilers, but suffice it to say- it. was. amazing. if the movie had done this ending I would've been jumping up and down and pumping my fist!!!!
fun side note, the authors 13 year old daughter created the entire dragon language used in this. There's grammar and syntax and even a post book appendices!!!!
blown away!!!! fantastic job!!!!

Historia
In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans. When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe.

Poignant, sweet and hopeful
Revisado: 12-20-23
TJ Klune is masterful at making you adore some of his characters, be annoyed by some, roll your eyes at some, and your heart swell with all their story arcs, this story does nothing less.
A story of life like machines and the last human, who doesn't know he's the last human, and what that looks like, it's a beautiful vignette of what "alive" really means and the hope for future.
Gio builds a home in the woods out of guilt. Raises a child as penance. Creates, as he was built to do. His child grows into a young man in the woods, forms familial bonds with the machines surrounding him and creates life, just like his father.
When devastation reigns he must decide what to do and how to move forward.
a definite read worth your time❤️

my kids (9&7) and I have absolutely loved listening to the story of Florence Valentine and Dug.
This last installment was beautifully done, we were excited about the action, sad about the potentially sad moments. always impressed with Florence and a delightful conclusion to the whole story.

Historia
In 2016, the morning after Valentine's Day, Luke's son passed away from breathing issues complicated by congenital birth defects. He was 21 months old. And his name was Finnegan. This kind of loss is terrifyingly huge and scary, but the love and light in this story far outweigh the tragedy. Through comic-book metaphors, Shakespeare references, and lilting Irish brogues, Luke tells the story of his too-short time with Finn. This is his tribute to storytelling, parenthood, and his rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed baby boy.

beautifully poignant, sweet and funny
Revisado: 02-23-23
So, I love Luke Daniels narration.
I first discovered how much I appreciated him through Kevin Hearne's 'Iron Druid Chronicles ' and I have followed him, listening to everything I could narrated by him.
I found this, Unspoken, not only narrated but written by him, I knew I had to listen.
Luke Daniels manages to make this utterly heartbreaking personal story about the life and loss of his young son, sweet and even funny.
The breakup of the incredibly dark and deep moments with some light-hearted introspection and humor is incredibly well done.
I literally laughed, cried, nodded, smiled and my heart broke for him and those I know who've gone through their own battles of loss.
I love how, just as I'm thinking he left out his son's mom in this, he covers how it's not his story to tell. His beautiful appreciation for his parents going after their dreams while still making sacrifices for their family is clear. His deep and abiding gratitude for his family, his daughter and the support of all the amazing people who helped Finnegan Roy Daniels and his family is incredibly touching.
If you have a couple of hours, listen to this beautifully woven tapestry of emotion, light, dark and love.
thank you Luke Daniels for this labor of love.

Luke Daniels & Kevin Hearne, match made in heaven
Revisado: 08-24-21
Yet another success. I continue to be impressed with Kevin Hearne. He is a genuinely kind human and takes time to talk to his fans, as well as write absolutely fantastic fantasy novels.
Luke Daniels brings every word and every character to life, I buy the books and the audiobook because I adore having the options and I couldn't go without hearing his version of the characters.
Your favorite characters from Ink &Sigil, Al, Buck, Nadia and Gladys Who Has Seen Some Shite, are back AND our very own favorites, Atticus (or Connor Malloy), the famous Oberon, Starbuck and even the Morrigan resurface.
It's a beautiful crossover story and has action, problem solving, butt tons of magic and even some warm and fuzzies (just like yer maw).... and a whole lot of laughs!!!
Another wonderful addition to Hearne's body of work!
